Evil Genuises skipper Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen is getting ready for the BlizzCon Regional Finals, where he is to take on former team-mate Benjamin "DeMusliM" Baker. In a recent interview with GoodGame, we find out that the upcoming tournament's format is ideal for him.
- My favourite tournament system to play is probably Double Elimination Bo3, like the Blizzard, BlizzCon and Bnet Season tournaments. The online qualifier for Season tournaments is also always highly enjoyable and exciting, says Grubby and smiles.
Today, 14:00, a Grubby having won 8 of 10 recent matches will play DeMusliM in the very first round of the BlizzCon Regional Finals. Statistics reveal the Orc versus Human matchup as Grubby's worst, but still holds almost an even scale with DeMusliM in the same matchup, which just happens to be the Englishman's second best after mirror.
DeMusliM had a cameo in last weekend's ZOTAC Cup, when losing to Kim Sung "ReMinD" Sik in the quarter finals. Other than that, the Human nGize player has been regularly been playing Warcraft Heroes League and the NGL-ONE 3on3 competition with good results. Being put up against toughest opposition he could have asked for will surely be a test for the #36 ranked DeMusliM.
The last offline event the 'Flying Dutchman' made his appearance was in the WC3L Season 15 offline finals - an event where he and his team mate Dmitriy "Happy" Kostin ended in third place. To GoodGame, Grubby reveals he misses the old days in WC3L, and not because of his and 4Kings' long reign in it.
- I miss the old one, but I am happy with the current one as well. I was shocked by the severe reduction of prize money, though. With such reduction of prize money, there is invariably also a reduction of prestige. I feel like it was not worth all the hard work we put in the whole season, considering the LAN finals were arranged so very poorly with all the delays, network problems and poor conditions. There was no travel support and the prize money would not even cover the travel expense to send 2 European players to China, says Grubby.
Tune in at 14:00 this Friday 26 to see Grubby take on DeMusliM in the first round of the BlizzCon Regional Finals.
