WarCraft III
First of all, could you please give me your name, age, race, and location?
- Joseph Anderson, age 19 , half Jamaican half Filipino or Undead T_T, and I live in San Diego California

I remember a very long time ago that you started out playing StarCraft ([n]ShoCK was your name then I believe). Why did you choose to start playing WarCraft III over StarCraft?
- Haha funny that that memory can go so far! But ya its true I was [n]ShoCK the amazing zerg genius ^^. I started fairly late into playing broodwar and I saw that my chances would be better if I played a new game from the start because I was sure that there would be 10x as many tournies than bw would have. So I decided to make the move.

I am aware that you can safely be called one of the best Undead in North America. Do you agree with this?
- Ya but it doesn’t mean anything when Undead is a race that has only been mastered by Koreans so far.

ShoCK

Name: Joseph AndersonNick: ShoCKCountry: United StatesClan: Check SixRace: Undead
What’s your favorite match up and could you please explain why?
- I don’t really have a favorite matchup but I enjoy watching Night elf vs. anyone because of the amount of expansions involved.

Any favorite strategy or build you have against any certain race that you enjoy doing?
- I really enjoy playing with fiends or watching them, not the hit and run style but mainly good burrowing and microing of the units

Do you feel that Undead is a balanced against other races? If not, please explain?
- I feel that Undead is a special boring race, It only has a total of 4-5 viable units that can be used so FUN WISE undead is by far the worse and I feel that it is not balanced because of the way that Undead must play to win is quite ridiculous

Summer CPL 2005
You qualified for ESWC 2005, but missed your flight. Could you please clarify to us what exactly happened?
- I read the information wrong on the itinerary, In the email you could scroll to the right as well as up and down, I just assumed it was up and down and I didn’t really check carefully because of all of the flights I’ve been on up till then have always been the same process and 0 problems. I thought I was a flying pro ^^

Do you regret missing the flight? Or are you glad that you got a chance to go to CPL Summer in Dallas instead?
- I would have loved to have seen France but I don’t regret anything because I still got to go to Dallas and meet my Clan mates from mtw and friends from USA. Just being able to be at any tournament is always enjoyable

Any certain opponents that you thought would be tough for you?
- I knew the orcs would be hard for me because I hadn’t really built a solid strategy for them and also the night elves there were fairly strong knowing how to use the race well and how to put undead in hard situations to win out of.

Any particular memory that you have from your time at CPL?
- I remember playing dota owning everyone one there like DIDI8 and Pillage and nub Tod . Also winning a $2000 Computer by playing pacman and Pong, I ended up beating wizard in the finals of that.

Leaving mTw and Joining Check Six
What was the reason that made you choose to leave mTw to join Check Six?
- Recently I have been slacking with my play, I have been frustrated with the game and how it must be played just to win. I don’t really enjoy doing hit and run all game long so mainly I lost my motivation to play. I know the US guys because we have all been together before and a “Team USA” has always been everyone’s dream to make. I felt like I owed it to myself and to the guys @ USA to help them go as far as possible. So it wasn’t the fact that I wasn’t getting playing time with mTw Rax is an understandable guy and if I wanted to play I could its just that we both knew at times that I wasn’t ready due to my lack of practice. I like to start things new, like I will begin a practice plan on a brand new day rather than on the spur of the moment so that’s what I decided to do with Check 6, make it my new obligation to ensure that I practice.

I am sure you have made some friends and had some good experiences with mTw. Any you would like to talk about?
- It was fun @ CPL meeting them, DIDI8 awlys tried to battle me in dota but he can never win me! I also got to play a lot of CG’s and I met BlindGuardian who writes for rushed.de. Taker was very nice to me and he always enjoyed pizza his famous phrase there was “Pizza or?” Also within the clan I could always feel a pressure to excel come from Rax, even though he never mentioned anything and was always optimistic. and I knew that this dire time was coming but I just couldn’t pull myself to train after my disappointing loss at CPL. It was more of a shock to me in how bad I did so I wanted to get away from it all after that. But the guys at mTw are always optimistic no matter our situation like me and lash playing 2on2 vs S K when we never played before we always say that we will win I really like that spirit of never thinking you will lose and having someone second doubt you on that but rather support how you think or even encourage you.

Do you think that you will get some playing time in WC3L?
- Of course why not? Anyone can play wc3l if they are ready

Life Outside of WarCraft III
What are some of your hobbies?
- I go to school so it takes up most of my time and I am going to take the game a lot more serious so I don’t have any hobbies, the main focus will be war3 and school getting rid of parties and hanging out with friends, its just something that has to be done if you want to get where you want to.

I remember reading that you are in college. Do you still attend regularly even with your busy schedule playing WarCraft III? How do you make time to study and practice?
- Ya last year was pretty bad since It was my 1st year in college I was experimenting with all these things, and War3 begins to lose interest when your having so much more fun and there is less pressure on you. But everytime I had a match like wc3l or anything I would have to make sure I played and focused to win. The best advice I can give to anyone who wants to juggle things with school is planning out your time and making a schedule. That’s what I will be doing this year because I failed at it last year, when you study 100% goes to studying and when u play play @ 100% try to minimize the disruptions.

Live on campus or at home? How do you friends/family think about your gaming?
- I lived on campus and now I will be living @ an apartment near campus. Before everyone disagreed with it and were like WTF get a real job and stuff but I don’t mind what I make its not like I’m playing to make money in the 1st place. Then when I won the trip to France was everyone’s eye opener my mom started to tell other people, people got interested at my dads work. But mostly everyone supports me, but I think people talk about it too much -_-;

WCG USA 2005
I heard that you qualified for the World Cyber Games in New York City. How much do you plan on practicing for this?
- I believe this is one of the things that will get me back into practicing so I plan on doing as much practice as possible. The races are fairly balanced since about 4 people will represent each race so it won’t be as easy to practice for this time. I have my secret training plans which basically got me to where I am right now so I am heading back to them to try to be reborn again.

Conclusion
That’s it for the questions. Is there anything you would like to add or say to your fans?
- I’ll just leave them with my favorite quote that I learned from some physics show ^^ “It’s not the falling that kills you, it’s the stopping.”
