DetonatioN FM bids farewell to their last chance at VCT Champions 2023 as they lost all their matchups in Pacific League.

DetonatioN FM was the first team to be eliminated at VCT Last Chance Qualifier Pacific. The team went against Talon Esports in the first do-or-die series of the tournament. Talon Esports and Global Esports followed after they lost their matchups in the quarterfinals.

The initial seeds were determined by their performance during the regular season of the Pacific League. The top three teams were granted slots to VCT Champions and VCT Masters.

DFM was behind the pack with a 0-9 score as they lost all their matchups. The closest the team got was the 2-1 series against Gen.G Esports and T1. The Japanese team saw a similar fate in VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo where they were knocked out in the round of 32.

Fans hoped for the team’s redemption arc at VCT Last Chance Qualifier Pacific but DFM failed to deliver. The team picked Fracture for the first map but Talon Esports was prepared for the onslaught. Talon Esports quickly chalked up four round wins and DFM answered back with five round wins. The first half ended 7-5 in favor of Talon Esports.

Talon Esports’ defense was too strong for DFM to penetrate. The team eventually closed the game in a 13-7 fashion.

The second map saw a little bit of hope for DFM as they scored four back-to-back round wins. However, Talon Esports turned the table around in round 5 and ended the first half in their favor. Talon Esports built on that confidence and ended DFM’s tournament run.

DFM’s Yoshitaka ‘Anthem’ Enomoto thanked fans and left an optimistic note despite the team’s underwhelming run.

“Thank you very much for all your support, even though we ended the season with zero wins. If we have a chance to challenge again next year, we will do our best to get stronger and win as many games as possible this time! Thank you so much for your support! See you next year!” Anthem posted.
