The last of the WCS circuits came to an end last night as aLive, Apocalypse, Sage and HuK topped their respective Challenger groups. WCS now goes on a four-day break before the grand finals at Blizzcon November 8-9.

Group G started with a minor upset as New Zealander Petraeus opened with a 2-1 victory over Korean Terran Apocalypse and got one match away from topping his group but a 0-2 loss to aLive put a hold to his plans and promoted the EG player out of Challenger. Apocalypse would eventually get his rematch against Petraeus and this time he would not throw his one-game lead away: a victory in three games advanced the Korean onward and kept the Oceanian down in Challenger.

Through hard-fought PvPs in Group H, ROOT's Sage topped the competition by overtaking Hwangsin and HuK with an aggregate 4-2. He was followed out of Challenger by the EG Protoss who, after losing the winners match, had to play SSanaEE for the second time before leaving the lower cliques behind him.

The culmination of the 2013 WCS is scheduled for this weekend as the top sixteen players from the season fly to Anaheim, California to compete on Blizzcon grounds for the $250,000 total prize pool.
