More WCS Season 2 coverage It's getting fancier by the second
Following the success of Bomber in Group B, two more Terrans followed up him to the playoffs. Those are the foreign-employed Taeja and aLive who left two other compatriots of theirs - namely Innovation and MMA - out of the tournament.   Group C: Taeja through, Innovation out   Although it would be the series between Taeja and Innovation that would become the highlight of the group, the second half of the playday began with a grudge match between two Protosses. The lone foreigner in the group, Naniwa entered the match agaisnt Europe's champion Duckdeok with the eagerness to redeem himself for the 1-3 loss to him at the WCS Europe playoffs. Two maps later he was told the hard way this was not going to happen.   In both games that he played against the Swede, Duckdeok used early nexi (including nexus first in game one) to gain quick economic advantage. From there on, it was a matter of exploting Naniwa's mistakes and simply besting his build orders that gave him the 2-0.   In the other opening match, Innovation and Taeja conducted arguably the best TvT since Flash versus Innovation at MLG Winter. After dropping game one to a quirky 1/1/1 mech play by Innovation but tying it on Akilon Wastes with a simple bio play, Taeja displayed only the most extravagant bio versus mech play on Newkirk Precinct. The Liquid Terran came back after several bad trades that would've been the death of most other Terrans and by the power of mobility and with uncanny battle sense he was able to best the STX ace after almost an hour of play.

Taeja continued his win streak and brough his group stage run to full fruition as he slapped down Duckdeok in two games to be the third player to make the Season 2 playoffs, following Jaedong and Bomber. At the same time, down in the losers match, Naniwa was able to upset Innovation with the same score and win the right to face Duckdeok for the third time this month, the stakes being a valuable quarter finals spot.     Group D: aLive through, MMA out   In a group of Scarlett and three Terrans, the most unexpected winner arose. With a score of 4-0, EG's aLive topped Group D before the unbelieving eyes of StarCraft 2 fans.   aLive's victorious run began with a series against Korea's champion Maru. The Prime youngster entered the series as the favorite - having recently bested Innovation with a 4-0 in the OSL semi finals - but failed to overcome the unexpected obstacle, tasting a 0-2 loss and a drop to the losers match. EG's Terran continued to crush face as he met and destroyed Acer's Scarlett in the winner match with yet another perfect score, becoming the second player against Bomber to not lose a single map on his way to the playoffs.   With MMA's 0-4 elimination at the hands of Scarlett and Maru, it is now down to the latter to fight and determine the second player to advance from Group D. Scarlett showed a standard but very solid ZvT against MMA and will be having a much needed rest before she faces the fresh prince of Korea at 13:00 CET. At the same time, the Prime younster is eager to prove that his 3-1 victory over Symbol was not a random thing and will go on to play his first TvZ for the tournament, hoping he can follow his compatriots to the quarter finals.
