GOMTV is finally starting their new tournament which will include the top 32 KeSPA players.

GOM has been the only Korean StarCraft tournament to pay attention to the English community in ten years. They did the GOM Star Invitational early this year and now they will be putting on the Sambo-Intel Classic. It is very similiar to the OSL and MSL formats and looks to be a very exciting league with 148 of the best Korean Brood War players participating.

Tasteless will cast once again

As with the other GOM tournaments the beloved Nick "Tasteless" Plott will return to provide English shoutcasting for this league. He has been in Korea for nearly six months now and has done a wonderful job of providing the Brood War community with the first English coverage of Korean event. The GSI obtained over 1 million individual ip hits, due mostly to his presence.

KeSPA Troubles

The Korean e-Sports Association is the number one authority on Brood War in Korea and they have some say in what goes and what does not. They have yet to recognize the GOM League in their official rankings and thus have created many problems for the English casted league. Their reasoning has yet to be revealed but it is clearly a very bad thing for the non-Korean fans of Brood War.

There have also been rumors that OGN and MBC teams will not participate in the Sambo-Intel classic due to fear of new competition in the scene. This along with the KeSPA problems could make it much harder for GOM to succeed in their ventures into Brood War. Of course none of this has been officially confirmed by either of the teams, but it is disheartening nonetheless.

Tune In!

Just like the previous tournaments this will be casted live starting tomorrow by the GOMTV player and their website. Yellow and Tossgirl are both taking part in the first rounds of play, two old school players that we have not seen much of lately. Make sure to DL the player before you try to watch the games, and it helps to be in Internet Explorer rather than FireFox or some other browser. Tune in and show your support for the only English casted league in Korea!
