After a sit-out in 2007, Colombia returns and partakes in the World Cyber Games grand final. Protoss player Raiden will wave the Colombian flag in Cologne.
The World Cyber Games audience will greet a new Colombian player in Cologne. In 2003, 2005 and 2006 (the years Colombia sent a StarCraft player), SlaSh has been the one representing the Colombian flag in the World Cyber Games, but this year the Protoss player Juan Camilo "Raiden" Sanclemente will be the one waving the Colombian flag.
Raiden defeated Megazerg in the national final with a clear 2-0 score.
- I have been playing StarCraft for five years, I want to represent Colombia as good as possible. Reaching the Top 8 would very important for me, said Raiden to CanalRCN.com.
The Colombian WCG history does not stretch longer than the initial group stage. Back in 2003, Felix "SlaSh" Cruz lost all of his matches in his group, being defeated by players as SuKeR, Rekrul and Grrr. In 2005, SlaSh surprised many when he defeated the champion-to-be fOru in the group stage. SlaSh swiped a total of four wins in his group but was still unable to advance. Last attendance, in 2006, SlaSh ended up in the 'GosuGamers Sandlot group', only winning to Maix which forced him to sit aside and watch the playoffs as a spectator.
The World Cyber Games Grand Final is held in Cologne, Germany, and will take place between November 5th to 9th.
