StarCraft 1v1 and WarCraft 3 1v1 will not be in the lineup of games at the ASUS Winter 2008 tournament. Of the six tournaments the WarCraft 3 DOTA 5v5 will be the only tournament featuring a Blizzard game.

cyberfight.orgStarting February 23rd to the 24th, over a thousand gamers in Russia will duel it out in six different tournaments fighting over a prize pool that equals to almost 35 000 USD. Sadly of the six games featured, StarCraft 1v1 and WarCraft 3 1v1 will not be apart of the games this time around.

The last ASUS tournament was held last year where the StarCraft finals came down to a showdown between Advokate (now in team RoX) and MYM.White-Ra. The WarCraft finals saw Gravitas.XyLigaN take home the grand prize. In the StarCraft tournament it was reported that over 90 players had attended the ASUS Autumn 2007 tournament, yet even with such a large turn-out for the RTS tournaments, why have they been snubbed this time around?

A look back at the previous tournaments held by ASUS shows that this is not the first time that StarCraft and WarCraft 3 1v1s have not been included and that traditionally the two RTS games have not been included in past Winter Cups. Surely the RTS tournaments will return with the next ASUS tournaments to come this year.
