In an interview with executive vice-president of product development Frank Pearce, videogamer.com asked many questions related to future products such as Wrath of the Lich King, StarCraft II, a possible Diablo 3, and at the end StarCraft: Ghost. Something that has been put on the back burner since the announcement of StarCraft II.
So why would anyone still expect StarCraft: Ghost? World of Warcraft has over 9 million subscribers, StarCraft II has the entire StarCraft community hanging on Blizzard's every Q&A Batch, and Diablo 3...well that's another story. Who still has time for StarCraft: Ghost? Certainly not Blizzard which had Frank Pearce announce a few months ago that their global employee headcount is at 2,700 of which 350 are for development. 85 to develop cinematics, 135 for World of WarCraft, 40 for StarCraft II, and most interestingly, 40 for Team 3.
Team 3
It's not team 1 or team 2, it's Team 3. Unlike Blizzard North, Blizzard has decided to go with Team 3 instead of simply saying, "there is a third team." Oh how cryptic of you Blizzard. Pearce had nothing to say, but "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can’t give you any hints, but it’s totally awesome." Pearce is asked about Team 3 again by videogamer.com, but doesn't budge, giving no new information on Team 3.
Thus the speculation begins. It's obvious it's not StarCraft: Ghost, unless you are in denial. It might be Diablo 3, hence Team 3. It's also safe to say that if development counts cinematics, then couldn't Battle.net count as well? But it employs 40 developers, so could Battle.net be that awesome or is it just another game in development? Amongst the recent new tidbits of StarCraft II, Team 3's project seems to have gone under the radar, staying safely away from public questioning just waiting to be released to the world. So it might be a while before we find out, and we all know how good Blizzard is at keeping secrets.
