Last night we got enough surprises for the whole weekend it seems, because Mondragon decided it was time to finish the WCG Germany playoffs quickly today.
Yesterday almost all matches were played, leaving only only two games in the loser bracket and then the grand final for today. Mondragon (picture) had a safe ride through the brackets, losing only one single game, versus third place GoOdy, before the grand final.
But the big excitement was not about Mondragon. The oldy but goldy Zerg player Breakdown lost in the second round to Gentleman and fought his way through the loser brackets. After taking out players like iNfeRnaL and zZang and getting his revenge on Gentlemen he stood in the loser bracket final versus GoOdy and already had a ticket to Seattle.
The last player Germany will be sending to the United States is the DkH.KeyWeb member GoOdy who made it all the way to the Winner Bracket Final where he went up against Mondragon. Losing 1-3, he was knocked down the Loser Bracket, where Breakdown awaited. Breakdown proved to be too match for Goody who eventually won with 3-1. But GoOdy can still be a happy chap, and Top 3 from Germany goes to World Cyber Games.
