The Asus Summer gaming tournament is officially over. The biggest e-Sports event in Eastern Europe was held this year in Moscow, Russia. A fitting destination considering that the Russians dominated most of the tournament.

StarCraft made its return this summer after a two tournament hiatus from the ASUS series. In all, 52 competitors would be battling it out for the top prize this year.
ASUS Summer 2007 Winners
1. MYM.A2 $780
2. MYM.White-Ra $390
3. 3D.Androide $230
4. 3D.Notforu $150
5. aFz)Ex $100
6. Lyra.Pro7ect $100
7. 3D.PallMall $100
8. fiRe)Baltazzarrr $100

While last summer's tournament was won by Ukraine's MYM.White-Ra, it was Russia's MYM.A2 who would claim victory this time around. White-Ra would have to settle for second place, as he would defeat 3D.Androide for the runner-up spot; as well as defeating 3D.Notforu, Russia's current WCG champion. Even so, this should be a rather disappointing position for White-Ra, as I doubt the $390 he received in prize money even covered his travel expenses.

As a matter of fact, the prize money for the StarCraft tournament in general was unusually low, with first place winning $780 and third winning $230. All-in-all, a meager $2,000 would be divided up between the Brood War winners.

With ASUS rolling out its new line of "Republic of Gamers" motherboards, which are specifically made for high end gaming, its no wonder why they don't want to lay down the serious dough for a game that only requires 16 MB of RAM. Marketing seems to be a factor that is lowering StarCraft tournament purse money, even though the game is still popular to this day.

Here are the brackets for this year's ASUS Summer 2007 tournament:
