At first I would like to apologize for such a long break in informing you about the results. The reason was simply my having not enough time to write due to the exams. This news is a summary of all the missing matches, consisting of 5th round of the group stage and whole Double Elimination bracket. If you want to check previous results just use 'search' and put 'h4g' in the empty field.
Fifth round was quite interesting and there were a few upsets. Let us get to the point.
Group 1 - Week 5
PlayervsPlayerScore
ToT)ParanOid(< MgZ)Fabian1-3
After Dunaj and Slider left this group, there were only three candidates for top2, which could give them a spot in final bracket. Fabian was already out and ParanOid had to win this one to take part in the tiebreaker. Surprisingly for many he did not and Fabian took a convincing win, making everything clear. MgZ)bH and MgZ)Yayba advanced from this group, both with 2-1, while ParanOid and Fabian were out both with 1-2.
Group 2 - Week 5
PlayervsPlayerScore
ToT)Spawn( > MofD)BaLBoAv/o
ToT)Hullah(< tGrD)Sawyer.2-3
Before this round, Raven got kicked out from the tournament for being inactive and not playing his matches. Everything looked clear and the only thing which remained was Hullah's match against a newcomer in the Polish community - Sawyer. Sawyer once again made a surprise winning 3-2, after being down to 0-2. When this happened, a tiebreaker was needed to determine the top2. The results of it:
Group 2 - The tiebreaker
PlayervsPlayerScore
ToT)Spawn( > tGrD)Sawyer.2-0
ToT)Hullah( > tGrD)Sawyer.2-0
ToT)Spawn( < ToT)Hullah(1-2
Hullah advanced from 1st place and Spawn from 2nd.
Group 3 - Week 5
PlayervsPlayerScore
TiQ.Boban> eR15-VenOm3-0
MgZ)DukusO< DkH.Dreiven0-3
/ inF.Loid< inF.Pike2-3
The tiebreaker was almost sure thing in this group, but the players somehow made it clear after five rounds.
Boban stood not chance, but still did his best and crushed VenOm who with this win could have advanced.
Dreiven once again showed that he has been very strong lately (he recently entered top30 of GosuGamers Database Ranking) and did not let DukusO take at least one game in this series. He took the first place in this group.
Pike made amazing comeback. He was already 0-2, after losing to Boban and Dreiven, but then he won against Loid, VenOm and DukusO and advanced from the second place.
Group 4 - Week 5
PlayervsPlayerScore
inF.Vapur> VoOdOo.Exmario3-1
MgZ)GohaN> Voodoo.ITsux3-1
MofD)EnErGy> VoOdOo.SampleRv/o
Also in this group there was a big chance for a tiebreaker, but it eventually did not occur.
Vapur won 3-1 against Exmario (a kind of a phenomenon. Exmario lost all his matches with a 1-3 score and won once with 3-1) and secured the spot in the finals, as he had previously won against EnErGy.
GohaN was the only person to win all the his matches in the groupstage, this time leaving ITsux sad, as he took fourth place.
EnErGy won by v/o, but it did not help him much, as he lacked a win against Vapur. He finished third.
GohaN and Vapur advanced and VooDoo members took last three places.
Now the finals. A Double Elimination bracket was played and eight players out of 24, who took part in the tournament battled it out for some very nice prizes, sponsored by Hardware for Gamers.
The bracket started with these pairs:
DE - WB1
PlayervsPlayerScore
ToT)Spawn( > DkH.Dreiven3-1
MgZ)Yayba(GN > inF.Vapur3-0
/ MgZ)bH MgZ)GohaN1-3
inF.Pike < ToT)Hullah(2-3
Spawn who had recently become active again beat Dreiven who, on the other hand, was unstoppable lately. The games were short and micro-based. Both gamers have always been strong, but majority of betters put their minerals on Dreiven.
Yayba once again surprised everyone and won with the clear 3-0 score. Vapur is not much of an active player these days and pvp has always been his weakest mu, but it was still a surprise.
GohaN continued his winning streak and won with bH. He showed that he is not good only in pvz, but also in zvz (he won the game on Arkanoid).
Hullah once again was down to 1-2, but managed to pull this off and win 3-2. Pike got finally stopped and sent to LB.
DE - LB1
PlayervsPlayerScore
/ MgZ)bH > DkH.Dreiven3-1
inF.Pike < inF.Vapur0-3
Dreiven's loss after two matches in the finals was probably the biggest upset. Many predicted him as the winner of the whole tournament, but he finished 7-8.
Pike who fought amaizingly in group stage and WB1 lost to Vapur who seems to have some mood swings. One week he loses 0-3, next week he wins 3-0. Interesting.
DE - WB2
PlayervsPlayerScore
MgZ)GohaN > ToT)Spawn(3-0
MgZ)Yayba(GN < ToT)Hullah(0-3
Two fast series. GohaN again showed that he is immune to Polish players ;)
Hullah stopped Yayba. Period.
DE - LB2
PlayervsPlayerScore
MgZ)Yayba(GN MgZ)bH2-3
inF.Vapur > ToT)Spawn(3-1
After this round, two more gamers got eliminated. The unlucky ones were Yayba who did very well in this tournament (he advanced from the very hard group, leaving ParanOid and Fabian behind and won with Vapur in WB1) and Spawn who was expected to do better, after he won against Dreiven. Vapur and bH advanced to the next round.
DE - WB3
PlayervsPlayerScore
ToT)Hullah( MgZ)GohaN2-3
DE - LB3
PlayervsPlayerScore
MgZ)bH inF.Vapur1-3
Well, GohaN surprised once again. Not because he won, as it was not a surprise at all, after his great run through the whole tournament. He surprised, because he lost twice using his main race - protoss and won thrice using zerg. With this impressive achievement he advanced to the final, where he waited for the last person alive from Losers Bracket.
bH finished 4th, losing to Vapur who seemed to be in very bad shape, after the loss against Yayba.
DE - LB4
PlayervsPlayerScore
inF.Vapur< ToT)Hullah(0-3
Vapur tried a few uncommon strategies in these games, but they did not work and the match was finished after not more than 30 minutes.
The Final - First bo3
PlayervsPlayerMapScore
MgZ)GohaN< ToT)Hullah(Tau Cross0-1
MgZ)GohaN> ToT)Hullah(Arkanoid1-1
MgZ)GohaN< ToT)Hullah(Peaks1-2
In the final Hullah had to win two bo3, while GohaN needed only one, as he advanced from WB. GohaN once again played zvz, after his 3-0 score in this mu last time. It did not work and second bo3 was necessary to determine the winner. It was played right after the first one.
The Final - Second bo3
PlayervsPlayerMapScore
MgZ)GohaN< ToT)Hullah(Arcadia II0-1
MgZ)GohaN< ToT)Hullah(Arkanoid0-2
GohaN won all his bo5 in the tournament (8 in total). It seemed that he will not let the win go to another player, but this actually happened. I do not know what to write, because it is hard for me to write about myself. Let us just look at the final results and the prizes:
