The OGN StarLeague quarterfinals started on wednesday with the first game of a best of three series. Today they wrapped up and decided the semifinalists.
This news will focus on one of the matches in detail. This is due to time constraints on my part. If you want to work with GosuGamers on Korean coverage go here. The other games will be quickly summed up below. The match in focus is of course NaDa versus YellOw[ArnC] after that amazing display of skills they both showed on wednesday.
NaDa vs YellOw[ArnC] at HitchHiker
NaDa was up 1-0 from last time after a very nice game where Yarnc played very good, NaDa was just even better. This game, Yarnc spawns at the top and goes for a 12 hatch in his natural before taking his second natural (to the right) and teching to spire. NaDa on his part did a fast expansion before he started to climb the tech tree. As NaDa was ready to move out the Zerg borrowed his lings in the middle, but he didn't have enough sunkens to hold NaDa without them so he had to use them for defense instead of a counter. It worked out nicely though as NaDa's m&m force got destroyed.
It's not too often you see a Zerg get the burrow tech vs Terran. Yarnc did it well though. He even managed to sneak in quite a few lings into the Terran main and borrowed them for some vision and annoyance. As Yarnc starts his not overly successful muta harass, he was also busy opening up the left path to the Terran main and expanding to 1. As soon as the hive was completed he put down a mound.
NaDa seemed content to sit in base and macro for a while, but when he moved out, he moved out with force. Yarnc had little chance of stopping him as he rolled through the valley and into the Zerg natural. Good thing for Yarnc that he had no intention of stopping him, at least not yet. As NaDa reached the Zerg natural Yarnc had broken down the neutral buildings and was flooding into NaDa's main with lurkerling and muta. NaDa pushed the attack, probably thinking he could win an elimination race. When he tried to make it up the ramp however, Yarnc's consume research for his defiler completed. It forced NaDa back down the ramp, with a lot of losses.
With the Zerg main and right expo basically untouchable for NaDa at this point he tried to clean up his own base instead. However there we too many lurkers and even if he had been successful, he would have been too far behind. GG.
The final game was on Reverse Temple. NaDa landed at 6 and went for a wall before his command center. Yarnc spawned at 3 and opened with a 12 hatch. NaDa proceeds to add two more barracks in his main, which Yarnc scouts with an overlord. The chosen build for the Zerg was a 3hatch muta build. When NaDa moved out however he didn't have much to defend with. He had been saving cash for the mutas by not building sunkens. When NaDa reached his base, he only had two completed sunkens, one morphing and one creep colony just started.
A lesser player might have paused outside the Zerg natural for a few seconds and given Yarnc the time he needed. NaDa stimmed and went straight in, knowning he'd kill the sunkens with ease. About the same time as the last sunken dies, Yarnc's mutas pops out. Too late. NaDa wins and points to his three OSL badges and shows us four fingers. No mistaking that message. GG
NaDa knows where he's going. All the way to the top! Others have more faith in Savior as seen here on the cover of EsForce.
The other games were also interesting. In the first game Casy did an 8 rax and dominated all the way in from there. In the second game Casy somehow kept dropping and FireBatHero had no time for anything but defense. Very impressive showing by Casy today. Casy vs NaDa in best of five could be very interesting. Savior destroyed Much once again, surprise surprise. Actually, it was Much who just played very badly, not Savior who played so great. The upset of the day was clearly IriS. ZergMan is regarded as having one of the better ZvT's among the pros. IriS' TvZ is not as highly thought of. His matchup has always been TvT. IriS played quite well today though. However it was also not ZergMan on top of his game.

Yesterday one of the semifinals in the MSL were played. Bisu vs Nal_rA. rA had a very solid PvP record and reputation before this match, but Bisu was very strong in the ProLeague playoffs and has obviously been doing well in the MSL. Still, quite an upset.

Bisu > Nal_rA Blitz X
Bisu > Nal_rA Reverse Temple
Bisu > Nal_rA Desert Fox
Coming up is more Survivor and then on the 15th it's Hwasin vs Savior. I think that's something to look forward to.
