Germany, Mexico (should have been Argentina, but Argentina decided not to participate, so the round of 16 opponents Mexico was invited instead), Italy, Ukraine, England, Portugal, France and Brazil were the teams to play quarter finals in the 2006 year’s World Cup in football. The very same teams were invited and paired up as they were in the actual matches. A new battle would take place, in Starcaft. Let’s go straight to the action!

The Germans won the battle also without a whole nation supporting them. The final result in this match was written 3-1. In the real quarter final between Germany and Argentina the result was 1-1 after full time. Not that even this time. The strong DkH players did what they were supposed to, and as Rine also won his match Germany was trough for the semi finals.

Italy won the match in the World Cup, and eventually went on to win the whole tournament. Although, the 3-0 result Italy got there was not the one they got here. The Ukrainians, with the super star White-Ra got revenge on behalf of their countrymen. 4-0, with not a single game lost!
England vs. Portugal 3-1

One of the most interesting matches in the World Cup was the quarter final between Sven-Göran Eriksson’s England and Luis Felipe Scolari’s Portugal. Scolari had a psychological advantage on the Swede, having eliminated England not once, but twice before in the big tournaments. No goals were scored during the first 90 minutes, and it all had to be settled with penalty kicks in a match which Portugal eventually won. Although, that did not happen here. The Englishmen were able to get a 3-1 score after full time, and just as Ukraine got a bit of revenge.

Two extremely strong teams when it comes to football, but might be lacking that extra something to be counted as top nations in Starcraft. France won the World Cup match against the superpower of Brazil’s all shining stars with 1-0, scored by Thierry Henry. On Battle.net the score was written to 3-1, Odin saving Brazil from being all overrun.
So, we can look forward to semi finals between Germany and Ukraine, and England and France.

If you have any football interest you should know that the World Cup took place in Germany last year. In World Cup take two, we go back to the quarter finals and replay them. Although, this time on Battle.net.
