The second day of the first week of OSL was today and both protoss players were in action. The best play of the day was from a protoss. Some of the terrans also produced, but otherwise not the best games. Here are the battle reports for today.

Much vs DongraE at Longinus II

Much warps in at 3 and opens with a 2 gate goon build. Dongrae lands at 7 and opens with a factory and a bunker in the choke. Both players take their natural and Much harasses the bunker a bit with ranged goons before the tanks are in place. Dongrae puts down a lot of turrets for some reason at the edges of his base. Is he scared of a reaver or something?

No, Dongrae puts down four (that's right, 4) barracks in the corner of his base. Do or die! Much does in fact not see the build and it does block his reaver from entering. The protoss retreats to the higher ground of the middle in of the map. DongreaE tries to attack, but he has few tanks and the reaver does quite a bit of damage to his M&M forces before it dies. The fighting centers on the middle and although Much displayed some sloppy control at times he was able to hold the terran on the low group for the most part.

When Dongrae finally started gaining some ground in the middle, Much ran around his forces with a zealot force. Originally intended to counter the terran main i think, but it ended up as a flanking patrol instead. Dongrae handles the dark templars from Much without problems, but when he sees the first storm and he has protoss units in his main he gives up. Much handled the M&M build easily and was never in trouble. Dongrae could have done better if he was more agressive early on, but M&M is just not the best option in TvP. GG

Anytime vs FireBatHero at Hitckhiker

The second protoss hope of this OSL in action. He warps in at the bottom and goes with a quick core followed by an expansion at his natural. FBH lands at the top and goes factory into command center in his expansion. Anytime has opted for a reaver build and flies the shuttle to the terran base to harass. The result? Two dead tanks, one dead scv, one dead vulture and one dead reaver. To make matters worse Anytime has started two stargates and a beacon in his main.

Anytime expands to the left expansion and is very low on units when FBH comes slowly pushing down the middle. Anytime tried to stop it with what he has, but slowly he gets pushed back. When the terran managed to secure the protoss ramp and drop the left expansion, Anytime types out. Anytime lost this game due to wasting an early reaver and then spending too much money. You get punished badly for that kind of play on Hitchhiker. GG

MVP of the day, Much[gm]

ChoJJa vs LighT at Neo Arkanoid

ChoJJa spawns at 5 and goes for gas first, closely followed by a pool. LighT lands at 7 and opens with a supply, command center build before going 2port wraiths. ChoJJa has taken out the cocoons and expanded to both exps and put down a den. He's also making a spire. The wraiths do some damage, but nothing too bad. ChoJJa expands to 1 and just as it finishes LighT drops it.

ChoJJa responds by dropping the terran right hand expansion and bringing his mutas along as well. Light is forced to lift his cc while he cleans up the remaining lurkers. ChoJJa doesn't slow down though, but attacks the upper terran expansion with his mutas. Cleverly enough he also places his scourges on the straigh line from the right terran expo to the top one. And wouldn't you know it? The vessels present themselves for scourging. The mutas were easily repelled by LighT though. ChoJJa repeats the drop at the right expo with some more success this time, but no heavy damage.

ChoJJa kept being agressive and LighT kept having to lift his command centers, but didn't suffer much damage besides lost mining time for the most part. LighT on his part is busy opening paths around the map. Eventually, in the middle of all the zerg drops on his base, he breaks through to the upper natural of ChoJJa and kills it. ChoJJa has gotten guardians to further harass, but they are taken out without too much trouble when some wraiths arrive. ChoJJa tries to keep up the harrass while expaning, but he does little damage and his own expansions are being closely checked by roaming dropships of marines. So ChoJJa naturally goes for a defiler mound and tries some swarm drops. Even this doesn't do too much damage. LighT had been defending and expansion controlling the zerg for most of the game, but now he took down the front neutral buildings in the zerg main. ChoJJa puts on a little show with swarm and plague, but LighT is far too powerful and the zerg gives up. Although LighT defended mostly, he never lost big on the harrass. ChoJJa slowly fell behind since he kept doing it. GG

GoodFriend vs Casy at Reverse Temple

GoodFriend landed at 9 and opened with two factories. Casy landed at 12 and opted for a fact-port build. With that Casy manages to get a few scv kills with his wraiths and put up his expansion first. GoodFriend tries to siege up on the highground outside Casy's main and then ferry his way into a push on the main, but Casy spots it and eventually put an end to it. Casy responds with building a cc at 6 and dropping tanks behind GoodFriend's natural. He gets a few scv kills again. After this Casy drops at the natural of GoodFriend at the same time as he drops it. GoodFriend had kept losing some scvs here and there all game long and it took it's toll. He could not keep up with Casy's economy. GG

fOrGG vs IriS at Reverse Temple

fOrGG lands at 12 and opens with a bunker at his natural followed by 2 starports. IriS lands at 3 and choses to build a factory followed by a startport. fOrGG gets wraiths first, but is quickly scared away from his opponents mineral line as IriS had gotten cloak as well. There's some semi intense micro wraiths battles where IriS wins most of them. IriS also almost has his command center at the natural done before fOrGG has started his. fOrGG manages to sneak four vultures half way into IriS' base for a few scv kills, but nothing major. fOrGG seems to have forgotten that wraiths can't beat goliaths and tanks though. IriS has switched from air to land and simply walks all over fOrGG. GG

ZergMan vs Hwasin at Neo Arkanoid

ZergMan spawns in at 11 and goes with a 12 hatch. Hwasin lands at 7 and opens with a supply, command center build. Then he adds two barracks. Zerg clears the cocoons and has 3 mining bases and a forth hatchery by the neutral buildings in the front. Hwasin on his part has been busy just making a path through the map. He makes it to the front, but 3 quickly placed sunkens stops him from entering. Unable to attack there as it would be suicide Hwasin heads for the bottom zerg expo. Here he is stopped by a sunken and some newly morphed lurkers.

Hwasin sends out some more troops to reinforce his roaming M&M force, but ZergMan knew that was coming and put two hold lurkers in the path of the reinforcements. They did quite a bit of damage but nothing catastrophic for Hwasin. Terran now heads for the right hand zerg expo. ZergMan responds with dropping the terral natural, but it is dealt with without too much trouble. Hwasin pushes in on the one zerg expansion and drops the other. ZergMan has to face facts, and gives up. GG
