It is very rare for non-players to earn some money thanks to a video game, but it is what happened to Rob, he won the FragBet.com Opening Contest. As a fan of Starcraft and Warcraft III, Alpine tells he was used to betting on GosuGamers, Teamliquid and other betting sites before the competition started. Did you ever think that you could win the prize?
I thought my chances were as good as anyone's. I try to keep up with all the scenes of SC, so I think my high community activity helped me out.
How would you describe the competition in this contest? Was it hard to win it?
At first, everyone was in the same position, starting with 1,000 fake euros. After the first week or so, people began separating themselves from the rest. For a while, I wasn't even in the top 20, but after a few major upsets that I had predicted correctly (thankfully), I was able to move up into first. For a while, I was relatively unchallenged, but the last week was definately a stressful one as players began betting more risky bets with the hopes of earning the top 3 positions (the one's with large prizes)
