The new CEO of World Cyber Games - Kim Hyeong-seok is learning StarCraft by a former professional before work. Taking over the position as CEO as late as in June, he aims to boost the World Cyber Games spectator popularity.

In the Korea Times magazine, Cho Jin-seo has written an article on the new CEO for International Cyber Marketing (ICM) - the company that stands behind the World Cyber Games.

His name is Kim Hyeong-seok, a 49-year-old who previously was a marketing director of Samsung Electronics. Taking over the leading role as the big head in World Cyber Games, he intends to boost cyber gaming to another level. He compares his new position with his former, and likes to point out that it's not that big difference.
- My role is to communicate with sponsors and strategic partners all over the world. I have been worked in this field for over 10 years, says Kim Hyeong-seok, who also imply that it's the opposite position - "as I am the organizer who serves the sponsors".

“I heard of names like StarCraft and WarCraft because of my children. I sometimes told them stop playing those games. Now, I regret that I told them to do so.”

His knowledge in gaming is not particularily big, he reveals. In the article he says that he has heard of StarCraft and WarCraft - because of his children. Preparing for World Cyber Games, he has started his "gaming career" by learning StarCraft from a former professional gamer, and by playing a bit of Xbox. He puts forth that it is not an easy task for a man in his age.
- I think age does matter in playing video games. My hands react too slowly.

Everything is going smoothly so far, Kim Hyeong-seok says referring to the World Cyber Games Grand Final in Monza, Italy. He was there in the regional finals and saw the Italians battle it out, and was very amazed by the popularity.
- I was amazed that so many gamers paid attention to the event.

His biggest concern is to attract spectators to the event venue, as Monza lies about 20 kilometers away from Milan, the nearest city. It is no trouble at all for the organizers to attract F1 racing spectators, but Kim Heyong-seok mentions WCG is not in the same level.
- The WCG needs spectators, not only players, to become a truly global sports event. Although spectators via TV does not seem to become a vast problem, as several broadcasting companies from USA have contacted the WCG for global broadcasting rights.
