[s]event_wcg[/s]

Recently, the Republic of Moldova hosted their first WCG Preliminary in the history of the country. Even though, they would only be able to send one representative to Singapore for WarCraft III they would still hold a mock StarCraft:BroodWar WCG tournament.



In the past couple years, the Republic of Moldova was one of the only countries in Europe without a StarCraft community. However, times have changed, and now gaming community is growing larger each day. Many of the countries best players came out to compete: SG.White-Proboy (aka White-Maniak), k7.Gladiator, and 7x.Korvin. Even though, the community is one of the smallest in Europe they have had a huge growth in the popularity of e-sports with many potential sponsors.

Since sending players are very expensive to sponsors the Republic of Moldova wasn't able to send a player to compete for StarCraft:BroodWar. Instead, they decided to host a tournament anyways using WCG rules, maps, etc. It was a very exciting day for the community. Below are the final results from the tournament:

I would like to congratulate these players on their victory even if they're unable to compete in Singapore. Hopefully, they will be able to send a representative for StarCraft next year.
