One and a half hour later than planned, the PGTour Season 3 started. Reason for this was a memory stick not installed correctly in the server. With the new season, a couple of changes have been made, which Pat announced in » this newspost.
"All WCG Maps will be counted as MOTW to promote WCG practice." Map of the Week is a special map that you get more points on when winning. Each week there is a new map to be played on. However, to promote World Cyber Games and the new maps, the PGT administration decided to count Estrella, Paranoid Android and Gaia (and the new map that comes later) as Maps of the Week. This means that instead of 100 points, you will now get 140 points when playing on those.
It was previously meant that players who reached 'A' rank and higher would not be totally resetted. But because of players not liking this idea at all, they scratched it. Everybody will be resetted to D rank (1000 points). They also changed that all 'A' rank and higher will lose 30 more points against their same-ranked instead of originally announced. This is to make it harder to receive the Ultimate Rank.
Their special league working beside of the ladder - International Starcraft League also got itself a couple of changes. Last season many people were angered and thought it was wrong that foreign players were to be invited. PGTour listened to their users and solved it in a more legit way. For ISL Season 2, there were plans on splitting ISL with 32 Koreans and 32 foreigners, but they have scratched that idea as well. They are thinking of another solution on how to settle it. "want to make it as fair as possible for everyone, while having more players from across the globe at the same time." Pat writes.
