The World Cyber Games is the biggest, most prestigious and worldwide E-Sport tournament out there. Approximately 70 countries will have qualfication tournaments to determine which 800 players will advance to the Grand Final in Singapore in mid November. Some qualficiations are more interesting than others, mostly because of size, media approach but also player skills. But every nation is supposed to be heard of, to fit in with the harmony, enjoyment and emoitions that World Cyber Games stand for. "Beyond the Game".
Yesterday International Cyber Marketing, Inc. pulled up the curtains for the registrations for the United States qualifiers. For StarCraft there will be two online tournaments and local preliminaries. In the end, 16 players where 8 qualifies from the online tournaments and 8 from the offline tournament will compete in the National final at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center in New York on September 8-10. The good news is that the online preliminaries do not need an entry fee and that any player who lives in USA may take part.

For the USA 2005 qualifications, three new maps have been announced. They go under the name Gaia, Estrella and Paranoid Android. The maps have not been released yet, but as soon as they are we will of course upload them here and let you know. For more information about rules and such, visit » the US WCG site. Last year USA sent 3 players - FroZ, Day and Artosis - to the Grand Final in San Fransisco. This year, only two players from StarCraft will qualify for the Grand Final. However it looks like it is going to be a very fine event for the United States, and for the others who will follow the tournament.
