Another GGNL participant is the Danish Zerg player Modelo. He is also from Group 1 just as kibbOn, and has just recently lost against the Finlander. We talk about the Danish community, his Danish idol [Feel]..Arch and more about GosuGamers Nordic League!
Introduce yourself to the readers!
- Well my name is Peter Michael Buch Blichfeld, I'm 22 years old, I live in a small town outside Århus in Denmark. For a living I work for TDC denmark's largest phone and internet provider.
For how long have you been playing StarCraft?
- Well I have played starcraft since it came out back in '98, I started playing from a netcafe called NetCity where I played a lot of CS. When the owner talked me into it we played four players versus him on BGH. But I didn't start playing LT and WGT until around the end of 2001. I have been playing casual ever since. Just trying to have as much fun as I can.
You are from a very small Brood War community, but you've had your famous players as well. Which Danish player do you look up to the most?
- That would be [Feel]..Arch, regret that he quit a few years ago, the 2 brothers deacom and lucifer, and my good friend Hardrain, the owner of the netcafe I started playing from. We played a lot together 1v1 versus each other and 2v2 together. So I think he is the one who taught me most, too bad I must admit he has become better then me the last 3-4 months ;)
Which Dane in GGNL do you believe will go the furthest?
- Well I would like to say myself, but if that happens, the Danish BW community really need to get going. But depending if they go on, I belive ciz or KuntaKinte[cF] would have the best chance. Non of the other Danish players are good enough for the playoff.
Modelo out having fun in the dark.
ciz has told us that he goes by another nickname but doesn't want to reveal it. Do you know who he is?
- Well my guess is as good as yours, I have an idea of who he is, but if he wants to remain under ciz, I won't give him away.
You recently played against kibbOn, a Finnish Zerg player. It resulted in a loss with 0-2, tell us a bit more about the match.
- Not much to say, he played better than I did. My ZvZ is my worst match-up, and I went for a wrong strategy against his build. First match was GG when he got my Spire, and the second game I almost thought I had him when I got speed before him, and micored his lings out. But once again I stopped making lings and lost fair a square.
What do you think the main reason is that there are so many walkovers?
- I belive that some of the gosu players like Eriador, TreK and KeNKa has to play for their clans, and therefore don't have time to play in the GGNL. But for the rest I just belive that they are to lazy. GG has given us a great chance for a friendly tourney, and people repay you with not showing up. It really shows a lack of respect for your fine work.
Could it be because of the new maps that people don't want to try out and train enough to take part?
- I don't belive it's the maps, I think its fun to play some different maps even though they disadvantage zerg. Just take a look at Blizzard's Mystery maps, those maps are played on other leagues now. But one of the reasons that some didn't show up, or left even after they qualified is that alot didn't belive that the tourney it would get anywhere. I know that some of ther Danish players that didn't participate in the qualifier belived that.
How big is Brood War in Denmark at the moment?
- Not that big anymore. There are still a lot of players, but not more than a small core that play regularily. I belive that the netcafe I play from and I used to work at, is one of the last where BW is a must every time we discuss what games to keep.
Who do you think will stand as the victor in the end?
- After TreK is out, I belive Clawson will win. I like his style, and I can't think of any beside maybe KeNKa that could give me a challenge.
Well, good luck in the future of GGNL and in your gaming life!
- Thanks :)
