The event that is no doubt the most exciting and most covered in early 2005 is coming to and end. Yesterday the maps were announced, and today also the matchups. The European Captain Eriador believes that if they're lucky enough and they have their best days, it might result in a 3-2 win for Euorope.

The community and the two captains Eriador (Europe) and Legionnaire (Asia) have put their votes and thoughts, and finally the matchups have been settled for the finals in StarCraft Mystery Map Invitational February 26th. Eriador: "Best matchup for Team Europe"

According to Eriador, this matchup was the best for Team Europe. He believes that the Templars of Twilight leader Mondragon has a really good shot in beating the oldschool Protoss player Zeus. "In fact I think he will beat him." he says. He is pretty sure that BrEaKdOwN has got what it takes to defeat SEn. If these two matches goes the way he thinks and believes, Europe is ahead with 2-0.

Three really tough matches

The other three matches are a lot harder to predict, says Eriador. "The other three players are all expected to struggle." He will be impressed by the Spanish player Zelotito if he he wins one game against the powerhouse JulyZerg. He also says that Fisheye is capable of beating Xellos (picture) 2-1, and the same applies as well to Beast beating the Chinese PJ.

"More like 3-2 for Europe than 5-0 for Asia"

If all goes well, and the team is at their best and a bit lucky, they could win with 3-2. But he of course admits that Team Asia are the favourites regardless of the matchups. "But I think 3-2 for europe is more likely than 5-0 for Asia." he says with a snicker.

It will be intersting how both the Asian and the European players will adjust to the new maps on Saturday. They have less than a week to sharpen their strategies and tricks. Eriador thinks that they lived up to all the expectations. "They're all nice, though I haven't had the opportunity to play them yet."
