The crew behind the Global Gaming League are starting a new tournament called AmeriCup - an online league with prizes that promises the toughest competition in North America. For StarCraft the prize money is $4,000, for the entire Cup inlcuding other games - $50,000!
Virtual Guts. Virtual Glory. Very Real Cash. Those are the words and the promises the Global Gaming League gives when talking about this new tournament called GGL AmeriCup. It is an online comptetion, but in some games the finals will be played offline; these games are Call of Duty, Counterstrike 1.6, Quake 3 2v2, UT2K4 4v4 and WarCraft 3 1v1. Five other games, including StarCraft: Brood War will only be played online, and for all of these games $4,000 is the prize sum.
AmeriCup - a semi-invite league
To apply for the league and have a chance to get in AmeriCup, do that » here. The AmeriCup is a semi-invite league, where the crew will choose players from the applications, to get a league based on quality instead of quantity. Already, players like Rekrul and FroZ have shown their interest, and the head admin called DonKing says that they have a lot more good players that are interested.
OpenCup - open league, could grant you a spot for the playoffs
If you by any chance won't get accepted to play in AmeriCup, there is still a chance to reach the upcoming playoffs and to play for the big prize money - » OpenCup. The cup is open for everybody, and it is simply an open ladder that as of right now will work the same as the old seasons. "It definitely needs work and we realize that, right now we only have the Practice ladder up which works as it did before." DonKing tell GosuGamers.net. The top ranked players of GGL OpenCup will in the end of the season play a deciding game against the bottom ranked players in GGL AmeriCup.
The signup dates for the AmeriCup and OpenCup will last until 1st of March and after that the Cups will get started as soon as possible. GosuGamers.net wishes Global Gaming League the best of luck in the upcoming weeks and hope the league will be successful!
