As a lot of people know Blizzard plans to host a huge StarCraft competition in Anaheim, California this October. The event will be called BlizzCon. Blizzard has just recently announced that they want the map-making community to create new maps for this event.

On this coming up October 28th and 29th, wouldn't it be a map makers dream to see gamers like SlayerS_`BoxeR` or XellOs[yG] to be playing on a map that you created? Well now you can make that happen. All you have to do is follow the set rules and let your imagination do the rest.

Rules:
- Maps must have two (2), three (3), or four (4) starting positions.
- Maps should be 128x128, 128x96, or 96x128 size. All tilesets are permitted.
- Maps must be created by you. Updated Blizzard or 3rd party maps will not be accepted. Any map found to be an update will be disqualified.
- Maximum two submissions per person. More than two submissions, or a submission that breaks qualification rules, will eliminate all the submissions from that mapmaker from contention.
- Map must be newly created for BlizzCon. Any map found previously published will be disqualified.
- Please don't use customized tileset, terrain, or doodad elements.
- Maps may be submitted in either melee or observer versions. Please don't send both.
- Blizzard reserves the right to make minor modifications to final map selections.
- Submission instructions are available here.

A total of five maps will be picked out of a two step selection process. The first round the maps will be sorted by the Blizzard staff themselves. The next round Blizzard staff, with the help of well-known gamers, map-makers, and tournament admins.

To spice up the pot even more Blizzard has promised to give out a few prizes the winners of the contest. The prizes are not the coolest things in the world, but they are still prizes for an event which is free to enter. How much more can you ask?

Prizes:
- Map authors will be published on the BlizzCon website.
- Each map author will also receive a set of three StarCraft action figures, a set of three StarCraft novels, and a t-shirt.
