An event in Korea will give amateurs a chance to obtain Pro-Gamer acreditation

The Korea E-Sports Association is holding an event that will allow regular gamers a chance to prove that they are Pro-gaming material. The will hold a series of matches that collectively are known as The Courage Match events. This year it will occur July 10 in Taegu.

The winners will be given Semi-Pro Gamer Certificates. They will also have an opportunity to be invited to join Pro-Gamer teams if they are able to impress their worth to them. Any amateur can participate. The only condition is registration at www.guildpia.com, the organizers of the event, a "participation fee" of 20,000 won (19 US $ currently), and of course being able to show up at Taegu.

If you remember Rekrul's autobiographical essay The Rekrul Korea Story, you will know that it was precisely in these events that Rekrul met the wall of his own limitations. The courage tournaments are tough events that keep the pool of Pro-Gamers young and strong. Like Jae-kyung, OGN announcer, once said in an interview at TL.net,:

..the shallow depth of progamers is becoming less of a problem through the Courage League and other such matches..

We will be keeping an eye on this event and see how it unfolds.
