This is the first of a series of map packs that I will be offering to our community. I probably have more melee maps than I know what do to with but I have played them all at least once. I will divide them in zip packs according to the websites I have found them and upload them to our map section.

The first pack contains maps made by Teamliquid.net forum members and a map pack made by an amazing map maker Travin who made 63 very decent maps.

Many of the Tl.net maps have been posted at some time or another in this forum and have been criticized, corrected and improved with the advice of many. Travin's maps are an exclusive thanks to Frozenarbiter who was kind enough to share them with us.

Some are better than others but they are all designed to ease the Temple Syndrome*. I have added a text file to each folder corresponding to each map maker so you can contact them individually if you have suggestions for improvement.

As Starcraft experiences go there is nothing that tops facing a decent, but unknown opponent, on an unknown well balanced random melee map. This is truly when you can feel the fog the strongest. Trying to adjust your strategy with what you scout in your enemy base is one thing, trying to do it on the fly, on a new map, and start using the map to your advantage when you have not played it before is another. Both elements together make the experience almost mystical.

I will be making a Map Making Team with the goal of creating a map of the month. This map of the month will be posted and hosted at GosuGamers.net, YaoYuan.com, Staredit.net, Entropyzero.org and Team Areola simultaneously.

Remember the days of Map of the month from Blizzard? That is what I want again, except this time we make them balanced and better. If you want to participate please read this gosu map making guide:

» Aranx’s Map Making Guide.

After you read it, if you're still up to it, make a map, and send it to TMM at:
[email protected]

*Temple Syndrome: Soporific boredom and lethargy upon finding only Temple games or money map games when trying to find a late night game at Battle.net. Treatment: Load TraveltoAuir's Map Picker, designate above maps in one folder, and game.
