[s]wgt[/s]The cheater section has been updated yet again at Wgtour, this time with a brand new list even longer than the last one. I was going to essentially ignore it this time but I could not help myself. I did promise the update and it gives me an excuse to talk about one of my favorite subjects and make special mention of a special new award.
“Dumbest Hacker Award ” goes to the following:
MinusFever Rank [C6] Hack User. Caught himself accusing an innocent opponent
NoStY- Rank [C6] Hack User. Caught hacking after submitting a replay of himself accusing his opponent of hacking
ShakZ Rank [C2], TaWo-tOsS [C5], legolas_active Rank [C4] all got caught using rigged maps
Almost every hacker was in the C rank and only two in the B5. The vast majority were caught using objective methods such a BWchart, OP3 or a rigged map find. Only very few were caught using the old fashioned method of watching many replays of a suspected gamer. The vast majority were caught clicking on something in the dark fog.
Reflections
The questions that beg to be asked, at least by the likes of me, are:
The smart ones, the ones that do not click on units or buildings in the dark fog or are not dumb enough to play on rigged maps, how many of them climb successfully the ranks into and above B5?
Or do the statistics imply that the very best never hack?
Maybe, but I doubt it. There is no denying that the higher the skill of the group you analyze the less hackers you will find in absolute numbers and even proportionally. However even though this proportion between hackers/non-hacker does become smaller among the better players, it sadly does not change significantly.
There are of course more C rank players than the higher ranks all together so you will find in numbers more C rank players getting caught for hacking, yet the fact that very few higher rank players are caught today means that these hack users are well aware of how we catch them and learn to hide their nasty habits. You could almost say they are smarter, but are they? If they cheat they are only cheating themselves so they can not be that smart after all.
Finally, I would also like to congratulate clan [MofD] for purging themselves of one of their own members that hacked by submitting their own clan member to the cheater section. They caught him themselves and they dealt with him. You do not see many clans do this, usually most clans try to keep this sort of matter as quiet and hidden as possible.
