With no Mondragon in the German qualifier, the young prodigy ESC.Kolll was able to sail through the brackets undefeated, besting mTw.HoRRoR in the finals.

The best German clans
The players battling out in Leipzig were representing the best German clans, which also means some of the best clans worldwide (not including China, Korea). mTw sent no less than five players, SL sent four, IPS was only represented by one player, same as the two power house clans ToT and ESC who had sent ToT)Patience( (aka ToT)Gan() and ESC.Kolll.

No Mondragon, aCe or GhosTa
Two of the top German Zergs, both playing for ToT, were not attending. Speculations have run wild as to why Mondragon, continuous German champion since 2004, did not play. No specific answer has been given though and people are guessing between studies, personal occupations and, the unthinkable, retirement. Unfortunatly that denies us the pleasure of seeing a battle between Mondi and the hyped up Kolll.

ToT)aCe('s and ESC.GhosTa's absences have gone, in comparison, relatively unnoticed. It is sad that they did not attend as GhosTa is largely unknown, but still in ESC, making him very interesting to watch. Though more known, the same applies to aCe too, as it is always fun to watch the Templars grow.

ESC.Kolll
The winner was to some very expected, and to some very unexpected. Kolll is a young player, 14 years old. He has not had time to accomplish much, but the people who have seen him play say that he is mechanicly extremely strong Zerg, like a Korean, but still lack some in the terms of decision making. The latter did not stop him in the German WCG though, as he was undefeated, only dropping one game each to NarutO, BrEaKdOwN and HoRRoR. You can find a few months old replay package of him by clicking here.

Going to China
So in the end, it was Kolll and HoRRoR who went to China. They both ploughed through a bracket consisting of players like ToT)Patience, mTw.Infernal, SL.GoOdy and BrEaKdOwN. As we can see by these names this is one of the tougher WCG qualifications in the world. That should say something about the achievement of this years' winner and runnerup.

Apparently though, Kolll will have to take someone with him to China, as he can't go there himself considering his age and rumour has it his mother is busy those dates. A somewhat unique problem for a Brood War player qualified for the Grand Final. But if you can win WCG Germany, you can solve that too.

Replays
There is a bug with our file uploading system so I can't upload the replay package right now, you will have to do with manually downloading all the replays from the WCG site, where you will also find full brackets. Hopefully this will be fixed soon and then a replay package will be available.
