Last Friday we had the Finnish qualifications. Before that we have had the Swedish and the Danish ones. Tonight it was the Norwegians turn to show what they were made of!
The interest from the Norwegian players were really good compared to what it have been in the Danish and Finnish qualifications. No less than 24 players were confirmed at the start of the tournament. A good number of participants, but still a lot of people got auto wins in the first round, which isn't that fun. We'll see if the Swedes can match the number of participants when we host the second part of the Swedish qualification.
Impressive lineups - Eriador, sVEN, Rapide
The line up was pretty impressive - players like Eriador[pG], 88)Rapide, sVEN (lurendreieren) and many more attended. It was a perfect evening for some high class games that went just fine - we had to wait a little with some games due to people being away or having some troubles with their computers. Although, no major issues. It did take quite a lot of time though. The tournament started at 18:00 CET and the last match ended at about 00:15.
Eriador the expected player to win the qualifier
Eriador[pG], who was kind of a favourite, took the first final spot by defeating NrT.GrimReefer in the Winner Bracket final. On his way there he took on StaR.ConnoR, nw_alexoveralt, NW_Punisher. He then had to wait some time for his opponent to be chosen. After a bunch of games in the Loser Brackets NrT.GrimReefer and 88)Rapide could play the LB final to decide who was going to take on the mighty Eriador in the final. GrimReefer had on his way kicked out LillYu[cF], sVEN, and TurboN from the Winner Brackets. In the Winner Bracket Final he played Eriador, but lost. Rapide started out by beating NW_SandMan, but then lost to TurboN and had to go down to the Loser Brackets. Down there he was the victor against 4sh., sVEN, uT)guanO and Turbon.
Rapide took the win in LB final over GrimReefer
NrT.GrimReefer was beaten by Rapide the Loser Brackets final match, and the later one Could go on to the final.
Having 1-0 because of coming from winner bracket Eriador created the first final game. After some time he came to the channel again, before Rapide. The later of them had won the first game and the score was 1-1. The went on to the second game. This time Eriador did no mistake and could come back to the channel as the winner of the GosuGamers Nordic League Norwegian qualification tournament.

Short chat with the winner
Hello Eriador[pG]! Congratulations to the first place in the GGNL Norway qualifications.
Well, first of all thank you.
How was the competition? Did you have any problems at all on your way to the top position?
The competition was pretty good, a couple of players missing but still good. The finals against 88)Rapide were pretty hard. First I lost PvT on Sonata, although I gotta admit I'd rather play PvT on Gorky or well, anywhere, than Sonata, which made me attempt a sort-of cheese thing which he stopped nicely. But then in the second game I picked Dusk and got Zerg. I fast expanded and he did a really cute counter which almost killed me. But I barely pulled through and eventually I dropped him when he was out of his main and that pretty much fucked him. The final game was cool. :)
I suppose you stayed with Random, just as usual. Did that help you in any special way today?
Well I did stay with random. First it helped me, through giving me TvP versus Alex (first good player I met) on Sonata, and that's just not something you're supposed to lose. And then it fucked me through giving me PvT on Sonata versus both GrimReefer and Rapide. But then it was helpful again through giving me PvT and ZvT on Dusk versus the same players. ;) The maps could be better balanced, while my main beef is with sonata, TvP on Dusk at least is very hard.
Can you see into the future? :P What do you think about the maps that are being used in GosuGamers Nordic League?
Haha! :P Well, I sorta answered that I guess. I don't mind them as a Random player because I can abuse it. At least not when im lucky. I didn't play any Overture today, while I love island maps, the mineral positioning made me avoid picking it. So instead I picked Dusk against two Terrans. And nobody picked isle versus Random either. :P But I like dusk though. I also like March. I hate Sonata, though... :(
Ok, a lot of ppl seem to have something against Sonata.
Yeah, for a reason... ;)
Thank you for your time and once again - congratulations to the victory. Any shout outs?
