Recently a composer from Blizzard entertainment has started his own album project that involves us, the varied fans of StarCraft and Blizzard games. Who is he you may ask? Well he is none other than Jason Hayes, an award winning composer that has contributed to many of Blizzards games and most recently, WoW (World Of WarCraft).
Many of his works from the WoW project include Call to Arms which is the song featured in the 2001 E3 Cinematic Trailor. Some of you may remember it, it is the one with the in game cinematics of fighting and the alliance characters shooting rifles. He has several other samples for you to download here.
Now that he is branching off to start his own album, he has something in mind for the gaming community, a short-story contest. The basic outline of this contest is simple, everyone can write ANY kind of story about anything like fantasy, fiction, or non-fiction and he will pick 10 winners and compose a piece for the story. What are the rules you may ask?
The rules are simple: Your story needs to be completely original, non-published, and under 5,000 words.
This is a unique chance for a fan in the community to have their work published with a song piece to help the community experience StarCraft through music and story, just like we did in the cinematics. The top 10 winners will be featured on a special web site that will be unveiled with the album's release. There will also be bios of each of the authors and new original artwork showcased all over the site.
The contest has already started and the full press release was posted on SCLegacy.com:

The most important thing in a game is most likely the game play and how it stays true to the game. A side from that, other factors that make a game amazingly great, is the music.
