TreK, one of the biggest profiles in Sweden in the StarCraft scene will be participating at OptiHack. He has been on a break, playing World of WarCraft, but it seems like he's back. Before the event, we took a chat with the national team member, who doubts Team SWE winning over Team GER.
Hey TreK, you are going to OptiHack as a national team member and will be facing Germany during the event. What are your views on OptiHack?
- Hihi, I chose optihack this time cause I didn't get a DH ticket in time cause it's always tight planning and therefor I chose optihack which was pretty close... Also alot of friends going there and I got invitation from Team SWE so I'm looking forward to a great event -.-V
As I understand you will participate in the SGNL Swedish qualification. What do you think of your chances? Has your 'break' reduced your skill level a bit? Rusty?
- Hmm well since I will be there I could aswell try to qualify, I dont know if my rusty skill is enough but it's just for fun... I dont care so much if I would lose to an active good player.
Foreign players such as Fisheye and ShamanOfDeath will be participating during OptiHack as well, but they won't qualify for SGNL. You met them during WCG, you even lost against Fisheye in the playoffs - how does that feel? Are you eager for revenge or something?
- Both are unique persons IRL and they showed to be nice guys too, I have no eager of revenge from any loss ever... My goal in WCG was to qualify for San Francisco and everything after that would be a bonus for me.
Who are you looking forward to see? Anyone in particular?
- Everyone who has BW installed on their comp of course -.-V
This is clearly one of the biggest StarCraft events in Sweden in a long time. How important is this for the Swedish community?
- I dont know, StarCraft is a time consuming hobby with almost no payoff... When the motivation is there ppl will keep playing and these tournaments keep the spirit up so of course its a major factor for any community to "survive" with money tournaments.
All this talk about that Brood War dying (which has been said for years now). What do you think of that?
- Brood War is dying in a way but still not. PPLl are leaving and almost nobody is "joining" but I also see oldschoolers comeback once in a while and that should make it +-0 atm... I'm not sure, but Brood War will never be dead I guess.
Have you played the maps? What do you think of them?
- No I havent played the maps I just saw them...but I guess ill practise them a little before the event -.-V
You will sit together with Team SWE during OptiHack, as we are to face Germany. What do you think of Team SWE's chances?
- Basically everyone will lose against ToT)Mondragon(, so avoiding our "best" player against him would give us a more fair chance maybe. Also BrEaKdOwN[pG] and FiSheYe[pG] would be almost sure losses for us in my opinion... If it's 5 1v1 and 2 2v2 we could maybe win 2 1v1 and 2 2v2 to get the victory... But I doubt it... I think our best hope is that Germany doesnt care and not all of breakdown, mondi and fishie will play
Okay, we'll do our best! Thanks for this chat, and good luck in the tournament.
- Good luck with fighting the viruses!
