[s]interview[/s]

Grrrr gives us a good interview as usual and shows that although he may not be what he once was at Starcraft, he is still part of history and lived it all since ground zero. Perhaps his best interview yet and a recommended read for all Starcraft fans.

Sure, most people would not mind playing StarCraft occasionally but would you be willing to go as far as risking valuable time to have it as a job? Would you go to the farthest lengths to succeed in something you love when knowing that your dream could quickly turn into a nightmare?

Many top StarCraft gamers have asked themselves this question and only a select amount have found the determination and the courage within themselves to answer the question with a "Yes". But what exactly does it take to take on this admirable challenge?

"You have to have natural skill...", according to Guillaume Patry, "... Lots of people practice a lot but don't get any better." Do we not all wonder why StarCraft is so popular in South Korea? I mean of course we have the general idea, "StarCraft is on TV and it fits into their culture." However according to Grrrr "In high schools, everyone knows who's best in math and StarCraft." The rankings for StarCraft are posted right next to the academic results in South Korean schools. Is that not insane or what? Imagine going to school and passing the time, by discussing the newest strategies and matches in StarLeague (and not getting made fun of by eavesdroppers.)

Another big reason that StarCraft is so popular is that when Grrrr moved to South Korea five years ago, "FPS [first-person shooter] games were illegal at the time. That is one reason why StarCraft became so popular" he states. These are just a few quotes from this very interesting interview done by the "Geartest.com Staff".

This interview was done just before the World Cyber Games 2004, which Grrrr also talks about. I recommend if you are bored, or more importantly just have a liking to reading StarCraft related material, you take a look at this. You can also compare his tone as the months went by this year and you will notice that he is always himself. Enjoy this good read, it has a ton of details about his own history and pro-gaming!
