It is a well known fact that Reavers may have been based on Hayao Miyazaki's, Kaze no tani no Naushika (1984), and thus his credit at the end of the Starcraft original game. But what was Hayao Miyazaki thinking of when he came up with the Reaver? Was he hungry? Or was contemplating at the caterpillar on his window ledge?

StarcraftGamer mrdungx has found a post that may explain the origin of the inspiration used by the artist that drew the first reaver ever. Full credits to FighterForums, or FIFO as we fifo-fans call the site. Fighterforums is the third largest Starcraft Site currently in Korea but it has been climbing in popularity slowly but surely due to its high quality Pro-Gaming coverage. It is not all just about pro-gamers though and there is plenty of submitted material form the Korean Starcraft community, some very humorous. Cheon Ja Yeon is the guy who submitted it to FIFO.

The owner of FighterForums, a sports journalist from a famous Korean newspaper has now dedicated himself fully to FighterForum and I suspect it will not be long until this great site becomes number one in Korea. Anyway the picture below puts a new light on the Reaver subject and this new hypothesis puts to test that the reaver was inspired by a caterpillar.
