The Brood War scene in Europe is one of the most intense outside of Korea, with players like Strelok, Mondragon, and White-Ra. The Game Star League has brought them all together to prove which one is the best. Predictions are a tradition here at GosuGamers and this league is no different.
Two of our Editorial Staff members, VildaMalin and Sp1ralArch1tect, have done some research and have predicted the first rounds matches in the GSL.
Sp1ralArch1tect and VildaMalin Predicts
F2F.kAra vs. ToT)Gosia(
faculty.Closer2you vs. faculty.Collector
The matchup of Zerg versus Protoss has often been considered favored for the Swarm, as of late things have changed though. Gosia has a excellent record against Protoss and kAra has not shown much proficiency. Gosia also known as Paranoid, won the Sandlot tournament awhile back, and is ranked in the top 10 here at GosuGamers. While kAra barely even slipped into this tournament by defeating DarkGamer yesterday, hopefully he can show us his skill this time around, but I do not think he has much of a chance in this first set of matches. A blowout in all senses of the word Gosia is going to take this one without much difficulty.
It has got to be tough going up against your clan mate in any matchup, especially since these two have probably practiced quite a bit together. Any mirror is always interesting since the players cant take an advantage as easily in other matchups. Collector has not been active as of late though and that will make a difference in this match. The two Germans have been known as mediocre players for most of their Brood War careers, since neither of them has really achieved much success. A tough one to call since both players have not been playing as much as they could, but I am going to call this one for Closer since he seems to be more active lately.
MYM.Strelok vs. ToT)SarenS(
MYM.GoOdy vs. ToT)Gohan(
Once again inactivity plays a major role in this set of games. We have not seen much from Sarens lately and Strelok has been dominating the Brood War scene for some time as one of the best out there. I really do not think the Terran from the Templars stands much of a chance against the Warship, especially since TvT is disputably Streloks best matchup. Not much else to say here except SarenS does not stand a snow balls chance in hell, not even on a cold day. If he manages to win this it will be one of the biggest upsets this year, good luck to both players, though Strelok will not need it. I am gonna call this one for the Warship in what will probably be a shut out victory for him 2-0.
GohaN is just a monster of a player who has been really active in clan wars for the Templars lately. While we have not heard much from GoOdy, in the past he has shown his skill. These two are playing my favorite matchup and its always a tough one no matter what. GohaN is on top of his game right now and I think that it is really going to show today. I wish Go0dy luck but in all reality GohaN will probably be able to take him down without much effort. Especially if he comes with his A game ready to go, hes one of the best Protoss out there and this is his chance to to prove that further. I think this is going to be an easy win for the Polish Protoss, GohaN will probably take this 2-0.
MYM.Dreiven vs. HoRRoR.T-ScT-
MYM.GeNtLeMaN vs. MYM.GhOsT
The up and coming HoRRoR has been winning a lot lately, in most leagues, and his nation war score is nothing less than impressive. Dreiven the other hand would need his Protoss versus Terran a lot stronger to be able to take this match as easily as if it was any other race he was facing. Dreiven does have the experience though, and I think he can pull this of. Dreiven will win 2:1.
Both GhosT and GeNtLeMaN are two of the MeetYourMakers players we do not see that much of. They have both done well for a pretty long time now, especially GeNtLeMaN with his history in German StarCraft. From what I have seen lately there is a clear winner here, though, GhosT will not bring this home, not a chance. 2:0 for GeNtLeMaN.
MYM.WhiteRa vs. ToT)Mondragon(
3D.Notforu vs. ToT)SquaLL(
Mondragon being himself is a very big name for quite some time now, but also is White-Ra, one of MYMs' two Ukrainians. They have met a lot before, in almost all the big leagues and tournaments, but lately Mondragon has walked out the winner most of the time. However, White-Ra seems to be the most active one at the moment so the outcome of this match is not certain at all. I will go with the safe hand this time
Seems to be one of this rounds most interesting matches, and it might also be the closest one. Both players are well known, and both of them should be able to pull this of. The Zerg versus Zerg match-up is making it even harder to predict, but SquaLL has been doing very well lately. So if he keeps up his game I believe he can take this, if not; he will not stand a chance. I will go for a 2:1 score for SquaLL.
