In collaboration with Phantom[xz] I will be bringing you updates from the past week, every week. The features will include a set of battle reports from a day in the ProLeague or the individual leagues. We will of course also include results, standings and pictures as well. We will also try our best to find you the VODs for all the matches, as we've done this week. Since this is the first time we're doing this we'll explain a few things here before we start. If you already know how the Korean leagues work, skip ahead.
Shinhan ProLeague 2007: This is a year long team tournament. We're currently in the second round of it. The first round was won by Samsung Khan. The teams play each other each week in a best of five format consisting of two 1v1s, then a 2v2. If needed they will play two more 1v1s, the last of which is called an ace match. The tournament is sponsored by Shinhan Bank, hence the name. MBCGame HERO won the 2006 season
EVER StarLeague 2007: This is the On Game Net (OGN), one of the two StarCraft TV networks, 1v1 league. It is widely considered the most prestigious tournament a StarCraft player can win these days. It's often refered to as the OSL. It starts with 16 players divided into 4 groups and the top 2 qualify into the quarterfinals. For there on in it's single elimination. The qualification for this is called the OGN StarChallenge.
GomTV MBC StarLeague Season 3: This is the MSL, the StarLeague of the other TV network, MBCGame. It's just about as important as the OSL, but not quite in my personal oppinion. It starts with 32 player in groups of four, where the top two advance into the single elimination part of the tournament. We will be seeing the final here next week.
Each season in the Korean leagues new maps are introduced, if you want the ones from this current season, get it here.
