Sea3 surprised many by winning the sixth edition of the BW4Ever tournament. He has been around in the scene since the beginning, mostly hanging around at the East server. But by leaving Micro Media for the Europe-based team MicroGamerZ, something tells me we will see more of this Protoss player.
Okay first of all, tell us a little bit about yourself.
- Alright, let's see. My name is David Kent, and I'm 20 years old. I've been playing StarCraft since 1998 and always have stuck with Protoss. I'm a third year college student, and spend a lot of my time playing StarCraft.
How long have you been playing for MicroGamerZ?
- Hmm, I officially left [Media] and joined MgZ) about two weeks ago.
How come you left? And by what nickname were you playing as in MediA?
- Well, I was Dino[Media], and the reason I left was because I didn't play in most clan wars. For this reason, I decided to move on to a new team.
In BW4Ever, you used the nickname gNs.I_ShielD. Tell me a bit about that one.
- Well, since I was really unknown on Europe anyway, and teamless at the time, I figured it would be more fun to use my east aka in this tournament. After all, I'm not anyone with a real "aka" on Europe anyway. Plus this way, I figured my east team could get some recognition out of this.
Was this your first appearance in a Europe-based event?
- Hmm... I did the tour 2 weeks before and lost in the 5th or 6th round to a 9 pool.
You defeated F91, Hullah, G5 and IdrA to mention some in this night's tournament. Did you expect to be doing this good?
- To be honest, I told a lot of my friends on east, that I was going to win at least one of these tournaments. I was just waiting for the right day, with the right amount of luck. :)
What do you think of these tournaments? Good administration?
- Of course. Everything ran smoothly in the tournaments I was in. I heard about there being bad organization in the first one. But this is to be expected in a tournament with so many players! Now, I think the bw4ever administration has their arms around the administrative tasks necessary for this large of a tournament, and they are doing a fine job.
You joined the ranks of quite a number of top notch players, as Testie, IdrA and SEn. Have you played with these players before?
- Well, I was in [Media] with IdrA. Although we never played that many games, we often observed each other and played each other's friends. Hmm... My ongoing record against the mighty Testie is now 0-7 after he killed me yesterday. Haha.
What do you think of your new team MicroGamerZ? Do they fulfill your hopes and expectations?
- I'm not going to lie. This is the best team that I've ever been in, and the community they share is awesome. They're all very kind, and I've made a lot of new friends. I only wish that they had a sponsorship... I guess you can't get everything though.
Could you tell me a little bit of the games against xLo.Fosken (Drone) in the final?
- Hmm... The games were honestly pretty boring. I remember Fosken saying that he was tired before the final, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with me winning over him. The first game was on Rush Hour 3, probably my least favorite of all played maps. It was a pretty standard game, we both played pretty defensively and expanded. Basically, at the end of the game, I had secured six bases and Fosken realized that he wasn't going to be able to win, so he gave up.
The second game was pretty identical to the first game. We both just macroed and expanded, and he wasn't keeping up. Finally I managed to get a group of corsairs to hunt down his overlords and made arbiters to supplement my army and killed off his last mining expansion.
I guess the third game was probably the cutest. I figured he was probably worn out and tired from the two epic games before, and definitely wouldn't expect an all-in build. Because of this, I used my scouting probe to sneak off to the side of his base and throw down two extra gateways along with my two gateway opening and hid zealots. By the time Fosken realized what I was doing, it was too late and he couldn't stop the wave of zealots.
You played in WGTCL last Sunday, and lost to CDS)Lopata. Was this your first appearance in the clanleague?
- This was my second week playing in the WGTCL for MgZ). I also played the last week against DKH.Dreiven and lost as well. Haha. I'm not exactly the best performing addition to the MgZ) roster. Also though, I have played the last 2 clan leagues for my own team, [xT]. I used the name Leader[xT] and finally left it for MgZ).
You use the United Kingdom flag and not United States at WGTCL, does that mean anything?
- Hmm. Actually, MgZ)Tronic made the WGT ID for me. I was having trouble with the site. I guess he just never bothered to change it to USA. A couple others asked me about that too, so I had to explain.
Will you play in the upcoming tournament this weekend?
- Haha. That's a very good question. The tournament starts at 6 AM my time on Sunday morning. As long as I'm not too hungover or tired, and I'm awake, you can count on me showing up! Who knows though? I've been known to be very undependable.
What do you intend to do with the money?
- Haha. You aren't going to believe this. Well, my first thought was to spend all of it on candy and just sort of make a "Candy Mountain" in my living room. Then, I did some thinking and realized there are many more important things in life... Vodka, Rum, and Southern Comfort. I'm going to throw a party. =]
Okay, final words, any shout outs or anything?
- Yes, of course! I wanted to tell everyone in my old team [xT] that I miss them! But especially the true friends I have in the team. This includes: Tokyo[xT], Niceguy[xT], Swarm[xT], Veng[xT], Royce[xT], IdrA and Roofie)hL(. Not to mention one of my very best UMS friends NigSmurfer. Thanks for the interview Raistlin.
