Bilibili Gaming made light work of Gen.G Esports, setting the date with T1 in the lower bracket final.

The second seed of the LPL has just done the unthinkable; Bilibili Gaming just eliminated Gen.G Esports, who came into the Mid-Season Invitational as one of the favourites from the LCK. But BLG had other ideas, clean-sweeping Gen.G 3-0 in the lower bracket semifinal to set a date with T1 tomorrow to determine who goes on to the grand finals.

There, the winner will face JD Gaming, which BLG will be looking forward to given it will be a rematch of the LPL Spring Split finals. As for Gen.G, they will have to settle for a top-four finish at MSI. And given that this was Gen.G's first-ever appearance at MSI, a top-four finish is nothing short of great. However, given the heavy investment to its lineup Gen.G made over the off-season, they would have surely been expecting at least a top-two placement.

But today was all about BLG. A fellow debutant at MSI, this was BLG's first-ever foray into a Riot Games international tournament. And they are performing way beyond expectations. From the very first game in the best-of-five series, BLG looked to be on a different page than Gen.G with the likes of Zhao "Elk" Jia-Hao who got himself eight kills and seven assists while Luo "ON" Wen-Jun bagged himself a single kill with 14 assists.

Game two saw Gen.G fight back harder than the first but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to stop BLG from completely outplaying them in almost every teamfight. While the game was very much evenly balanced for most of the early and mid-game, it was Elk who changed the game with a quadra kill after ON and Chen "bin" Ze-Bin managed to bait four of Gen.G into a chokepoint. This swung the pendulum of momentum back towards BLG side and a few minutes later, they bagged another ace on Gen.G with Elk getting a triple kill in the process to end the second match.

Gen.G would come roaring back in game three, hoping to reverse-sweep BLG and they almost did so with Han "Peanut" Wang-Ho and Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan carrying the load for the team. Sadly, it wasn't enough to stop the onslaught of BLG, who could smell blood in the water. And it was Elk once more on his Jinx who ensured Gen.G could not fight their way out of it. He would once again secure himself a quadra kill to go with his total count of 16 in game three.

Ceng "YaGao" Qi was also in the thick of the action with Ahri. While he could only manage three kills, it was his 20 assists that will get people talking. YaGao was involved in almost 80 per cent of BLG's total kills, which shows just how fundamental the midlaner is to the squad. With that win, BLG will play T1 tomorrow to determine who moves on to face JDG in the grand finals.
