In an announcement on their Facebook page, Coast has confirmed that EU Challenger team Awsomniacs will be joining the organization under the name Coast Gold.
Awsomniacs formed in December around jungler Ilya “Lasagna” Melkumov and quickly reached the top 5 of the Challenger ladder. The squad is currently playing in the EU Challenger Series 2 with the hopes of entering into the LCS, and are set to face Departed (ex-Pulse) in a best of three on the 20th of March.
Coast in not the only North American sponsor to be expanding their League of Legends division internationally, with Dignitas having acquired an Oceania squad only a few days ago.
Of their new team, Coast said:
“Team Coast is very pleased to welcome our brothers from across the pond to the family, and wish them good luck in their match on Thursday”
