Fnatic wrecks Gambit, Copenhagen Wolves pounce on Alliance, and ROCCAT slams Supa Hot Crew XD for the first three games of the European LCS Spring Split.
FNC vs GMB
The 2014 European LCS opened up with a bang, as Fnatic drew first blood on Genja due to a failed invade. After that, the game just became an all-out brawl as these rivals were just butting heads against each other. Diamond's Shyvana became a monster in the jungle, as he just kept on counterjungling Cyanide. The lanes, however, were telling a different story, in particular for the duo lanes who were at top and Darien vs sOAZ at bot.
Not only did the Trundle pick by the Frenchman proved a great counter for Darien's Mundo, but it was highly effective, as the Troll King was able to pierce through the Madman's defences. His peel also allowed Fnatic to engage and chase Gambit strongly when fighting for objectives. While Diamond was godlike on Shyvana, the power farming came back to haunt him, as he wasn't able to help his team as much as he should have. Especially the duo lane, where Yellowstar and Rekkles destroyed Edward and Genja.
CW vs [A]
It is the alpha challenger team taking on Froggen's "Super Team" in this matchup. The early game started off even, with ganks in one lane being answered with opposing ganks in another. It was an impressive display of both ALL Shook and CW Amazing's jungle prowess and instinct, as they both knew when and where they should strike.
However, it was the Wolves who were slowly getting ahead in the mid game. Thanks to Intervention from cowtard's Kayle, CW was able to bait Alliance and draw them in fights that go to the new team's favor. Another winning factor was the rotations. The Wolves had better mind games, and looped Alliance around in circles as they slowly took one objective after another, securing a bigger and better gold lead.
Superior positioning, better map control, and utilization of a gold lead allowed Copenhangen Wolves to have a strong debut in the EU LCS, taking down the veteran super squad.
SHC vs ROC
A match between new blood is always exciting, as we don't yet know the entire spectrum of abilities each team has. In fact, the drafts already showed interesting stuff about ROCCAT, as Overpow picked Pantheon to go in the mid lane. During the game itself, Supa Hot Crew seemed to be in control via dives and ganks, but ROC kept the gold lead even simply through superior mechanics.
During the mid game, ROCCAT unleashed the full power of its team composition, as Malphite with Teleport and Panthron with Grand Skyfall allowed them to literally jump in almost anywhere in the map. It also gave them the ability to pull off a 1-3-1 splitpush, something that the team has been doing since the promotion tournament.
With better teamfighting, objective control, and overall mechanics, ROCCAT one-upped SUPA HOT CREW XD and got a convincing win.
