Welcome to the June edition of your favorite (I'm hoping) "Stats corner". With LCS resumed, this month offered a bit more matches though not marginally so due to the conclusion of LPL and IGN. Thus, we looked to LCS EU, LCS NA, DreamHack Summer, GPL Summer, Tencent Games Arena Summer and the Asian Indoor Martial-Arts tournaments and gathered stats from 148 games to see what changed between now and last month.
I want to say that a lot has changed in one month but, alas, it hasn't. Thresh, Sona, Elise and Jarvan continue to be the most desired champions out of all, leading with similar margins as last time.
Where the difference comes is at the lower leves of the graph. Champions like Ezreal, Malphite and Janna found their way in at the expense of early-2013 powerhouses such as Zed, Diana and Kha'Zix. While Zed and Kha'Zix are just outside the top 15 border, however, Diana's popularity has decreased more than twice since May 2013 and she's down to 21 from 47, likely due to the nerfs to Moonsilver Blade (range and damage reduced) and Pale Cascade (shield and damage after level one reduced).
Right in the First Picked graph, Jayce has taken the top after a period of constant increase in popularity. Ironically, as we'll see below, the champion has only won about 45% percent of his matches.
Most banned and most contested
Hey, look, Twisted Fate is the most hated champion of the month. This has definitely not happened three times in a row now...
On a serious note, one should take a look at the #8 in the most banned graph, namely Nunu, whose presence there was more than expected. With the big buffs to his Consume allowing him to buff himself while jungling, Nunu quickly became a hated target, edging out champions like Jarvan and Malphite and being tied for 7th with Zed. Evelynn also makes a return to the red graph now that she's being picked more and more as a jungler.
Win rates (for champion picked > 10 times)
Welcome things back to normal with the left part of the win rates. After appalling May with 37% win rate, Shen has made an incredible climb and sits at 70%, an impressive number, considering his high pick rate of 33. Xin Zhao is leading the table but this is mostly due to being played significantly less (11 time).
On the right, Lulu, Sejuani and Fiddlesticks make a return appearance from May and are joined by Low 10 regular Orianna to make for a familiar picture. What needs pointing out is Renekton standing as the "leader" of that graph with 30%, enjoying not only a drop in performance but also one in popularity as he barely scored 10 picks to make it to the graphs. Not a lucrative trade I must say...
