
The CIS region has been quite as of late with NA/EU and SEA taking center stage due to their early HoN Tour announcements, now the CIS region cames back into the spotlight with the G1-Summer and a HoN Tour announcement looming. While HoN Tour is the big thing in NA/EU and SEA currently, the CIS region has it's own routine with the prestigious G1-series that goes into the sixth installment with this summer edition. As usual five seeded pro teams and three non-pro teams that fight their way throught he qualifiers are allowed to participate in the coveted tournament that gives away $6,000 USD this time. As an added bonus the four playoff teams will not only fight for the big share of the prizepool, but they will also compete for an early opportunity to join the Gold Division in the upcoming CIS HoN Tour festivities. As a CIS official confirmed the four best teams of this G1-Summer will get a direct invite into the highest division that the CIS HoN Tour will have to offer. A lot is on the line for the teams, that once again fight for the prestigious G1-title, regional dominance and the big prizepool. Usual big names like Cats Gaming and iTS are already qualified, the same as Meka, Eazy and the Russian-Ukrainian mix of QaM. All five names have already participated in the G1-series with Cats Gaming holding the record with three titles, while iTS walks into this event as the reigning and defending G1-Spring Champion. The event will kick off August 24th with the non-pro qualifiers taking place - registration is already open. After that prelude the real competition will start with a group phase in which every single team is competing in one giant round robin to determine the four worthy playoff teams and the first four seeded representatives of the Gold Division. That portion of the event will officially start August 26th, with the Grand Finals being scheduled for September 8th. Basically everything stayed the same in terms of execution of the event , but the format has changed a bit. The group stage matches will once again be Best of Three clashes, while the playoffs are reduced to a single elimination event with the first set of matches being played in the Best of One format - semifinals and Grand Finals are played in Bo3 as usual.
