This coming Saturday catch the best teams from the ANZ region live as they battle it out for US$20,000 and the opportunity to compete in the DreamHack Summer Championships in Jönköping, Sweden.
With Spring regional champions Negative Synergy rolling through the qualifiers as expected, they go into the final as strong favourite. This is only strengthened after the ANZ region went through its own mini-rosterpocalypse and came out the other side with old faces under some new titles and in some new combinations.
NS stand out as obvious favourites, with Benjamin94 feeling confident heading into Saturday. “I expect the seeding to reflect the end results for the final”, he said. “However there is always the possibility of an upset or two, so we will be on our game.”
Linda’s Little Angels, Tutsis and Fusion all have the opportunity to break the hold Negative Synergy have on top spot. Linda’s Little Angels made it through alongside Negative Synergy, dropping 4 games against their rival in the process. The losers’ finals were played against Fusion where LLA prevailed 1-0 and forced Fusion to battle again in the 2nd Qualifier.
Right off the bat Fusion struggled in the 2nd qualifier, dropping into the losers’ bracket in the first round 2-1 vs Fresher, and being forced to battle out of the Losers’ bracket to beat Fresher 1-0 in the Losers’ Finals and qualify alongside Tutsis.
With these new teams having some practice under their belts after forming quickly for a hastily-announced qualifier, it will be interesting to see if anyone will be able to de-synergize Negative Synergy.
All information regarding the tournament can be found here with the action kicking off this Saturday at 11:00 AEST.
