Now that the holiday seasons is ending, watching Nexus Heroes championship was exactly how I wanted to to spend my time getting back into the swing of competitive heroes. The best SEA teams playing with unusual heroes with Babael casting was a winning combination and eventually ended with a Grand finals between Salt Gaming and DTPT (Down town pound town). Salt gaming was the favorite to win and show why with their signature style of off meta picks.

Salt's Stitches pick in in game 1 had it's moments but wasn't enough to punish the fragile Kael'thas and Falstad from DTPT. One game behind against a team they had already defeated earlier in the tournament, Salt went to one of their tried and true strategies; Sylvanas and E.T.C wombo combo for maximum team fight potential. The mosh pits were on point and the set became tied 1-1.

Going into the last game Salt went with an all new strategy- a last pick Lunara.

One look at DTPT's draft and the Lunara pick (on Dragonshire) becomes obvious. Wisp scouting mitigates the risk of an early game Arthas roaming while Lunara's amped-up Spell Shield is effective against Kael'thas and Falstad damage. The sustained damage on Arthas and Johanna isn't easily healed by the bursty Rehgar and she also synergies well with Raynor's inspire.

The picked proved effective and Salt was able to take early dragons on the back of Lunara's strong lane presence. Throughout the game she whittled away at DTPT's two tanks, eventually negating the CC of Arthas completely with her level 20 storm talent, Abolish magic. This in combination with a full auto attack Raynor was too much for DTPT to deal with granting Salt the victory and 5,000 MYR to take home.
