Recruit a friend program offers tempting rewards for recruiter and recruitee alike.

Similar to their current Recruit a Friend program for World of Warcraft, Blizzard is offering unique rewards for players who bring friends into the nexus. Along with the holiday bonus, and the removal of talent gating, there has never been a better time to hop into Heroes of the Storm.

For those who have been recruited, you can expect two free heroes , a free stimpack, and a unique portrait. Immediately upon being recruited, players will receive Raynor (a powerful auto attack assassin) and a five-day stimpack to give you a little extra boost. When you make it to level 10, Sylvanas (a sinister specialist that excels in pushing and teamfights) and a unique Recruit a Friend portrait become available.

Nothing better than free stuff!

Don't fret recruiters, as you get plenty of goodies for your efforts. When one person you recruited reaches level 10 you also get the special Recruit a Friend portrait. But the real reward, the crown jewel, is the coveted Vulture mount. Harkening back to Starcraft 1, you too can ride around the Nexus in style on a futuristic motorbike. That is, if you can get four of your friends to be recruited and reach level 10.

As cool as free heroes and other rewards are for incentivising people to bring their friends in, there is an underlying problem. Highlighted by the changes to talent gating and the additional free hero rotation slots, smurfs are now easier than ever and there's nothing stopping players from creating new accounts to reap the rewards. There will definitely be new players who start playing HoTS through this program, but there may need to be additional systems in place to prevent abuse.
