MVP Black defeated MRR in a tense 3-2 series, featuring rising picks in the Korean meta like Sonya, The Butcher and Seven-Sided-Strike-wielding Kharazim to advance in the winner bracket of Superleague. MVP Black has also become the new GosuGamers Rankings leader, with Tempo Storm (US) in 2nd and Team Liquid (EU) in 3rd place.

The HOT6 Superleague playoffs began today with MVP Black defeating MRR in a full length best of 5. MVP Black looked unstoppable until the third and fourth games, when MRR used their late game damage dealers including Sgt. Hammer to deal the needed damage behind the protection of Duckdeok and Jeongha on their tanks. MVP came back in a dominant game 5 on Tomb of the Spider Queen, using an unseen composition of Kael'Thas, Sonya, The Butcher, Kharazim and Leoric. At 9 minutes into the game, MVP had the middle inner keep cleared and never ceased pressure, seizing passage to the next stage of the winners bracket and top ranking on GosuGamers HotS rankings.

Game 3 featured both teams playing at their maximum potential and making aggressive, nearly dangerous choices to push with the Sky Shrines. MRR placed Dami on Sgt.Hammer, a closet pick of his, and EverGreen on his first Valla pick. MVP Black also had all players on key picks, especially Sake on Jaina, who in Game 1 absolutely destroyed MRR with Ring of Frost in combination with the Butcher and Uther.

At a pivotal point in the game, the teams completely trade sides of the map with one shrine activated at the top and the other at the bottom, MRR ends up taking the boss while MVP nearly takes MRR's inner-top keep. Following, Jeongha makes an amazing play usig March of the Black King to shift momentum in the game and MRR pushes for the win.

With this win, MVP Black has advanced to the top slot on GosuGamer's HotS ratings, replacing long standing leader Team Liquid, who now sits in third beneath Tempo Storm.

The next Superleague game with be on the 15th of September at 12:00 CEST between 2nd seed Snake and 3rd seed Team DK. With MRR standing strong against MVP Black and the Korean meta shifting to defeat the double tank strategy, the upcoming games will be unmissable.
