Enter the Storm official site - main coverage portal

It was the end of a long tournament and the only thing more intense then the competition was a series of DDoS attacks that threatened to indefinitely delay the grand finals. There was even talk of playing past the disconnects on the basis that both teams would have an equal number of Bots sharing the same disadvantage! Thankfully, through the patience of both teams and some quick thinking from the Enter the Storm admins, the final match was played and Team Liquid Heroes were found victorious. After their win, I tracked down the group and asked them some questions:

Hey guys, congrats on the win! Those disconnects and server issues must have been taxing.

LucifroN: Thanks.

Blackscorp: It was quite frustrating.

LucifroN: Yep, it's really annoying.

FalcoN: Sorry about that, we are getting DDoS'ed since a week ago.

Blackscorp: But we are happy at the end result.

So tell me about the bracket: did you have any specific strategies going into the final stretch of the tournament?

LucifroN: We know all the teams, their strengths and we usually adapt to the team we're facing.

Blackscorp: Yeah, it depends on the style of each team. We prefer to play a more sustain composition or a burst composition.

VortiX: But I think it was pretty clear that we can play pretty much everything.

That looked very apparent with your hero choices. Kerrigan, Muradin and Tyrael don’t get much play but you made them look very strong.

VortiX: Don't forget about Murky in the first round!

LucifroN: Well, the patch is still new. There are still a lot of things that haven't seen much play in competitive environments, and they can be strong.

Blackscorp: We try every hero and don't think any of them are overpowered. That means we have a decent amount of heroes to choose from. Depending the situation, we might prefer some over others.

GranPkt: We also try to watch a lot of competitive games from other regions , especially NA and Asia. Sometimes we find inspiration.

Can you elaborate on any specific inspirations?

Blackscorp: Well Kerrigan is played a lot in NA and not so much in EU. We gave her a try and it worked pretty well. These picks are strong and can do a good surprise effect to the enemy team

GranPkt: Honestly, the Murky came out from some attempts in Team League, but we don't see him as a top tier pick. What's more, we still aren't even sure if he is good.

Blackscorp: Also, when Tempo Storm came to play in EU about a month ago, they showed us the strong split push that E.T.C provides and now he is a must to pick.

Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, and then more practice. And then, adapt very well to everything. It's the only way.

Do you think Gamers2 just weren’t ready for the versatility of your play style? VortiX had a lot of the stream chat crying Lost Vikings Imba!

VortiX: I don't think Lost Vikings was a big surprise for them, I think we just made better decisions in game.

GranPkt: LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA ! (Vikings Song)

What are some of the decisions Gamers2 made you disagree with?

VortiX: We chose better when to take the team fights and we rotated pretty well throughout the map as well.

So now that you guys are seeded for the next Enter the Storm main event, is there any team you fear playing against?

GranPkt: I would not say "fear". Playing against teams in good shape like Na'Vi or G2 it's always an exciting experience

Blackscorp: Na'Vi vs Team Liquid seems to be the new EL CLASSICO.

What do you think attributes to the success of you guys as a team?

FalcoN: Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, and then more practice. And then, adapt very well to everything. It's the only way.

Blackscorp: I would say that our hero pool and taking advantage of the weakness of the enemy is our way to success

FalcoN: Sometimes we play very aggressive , sometimes very defensive. It depends on the game

Very cool, so never predictable, very flexible.

Blackscorp: Yeah.

The talent that causes a second Thunder Clap also benefits from the 300% damage on a single target talent. I'm not sure most people realize this.

How will you guys celebrate now that you have won the first cup?

GranPkt: I'm not the kind of man who celebrates. I just want to focus on the next one and keep training hard.

Blackscorp: I'll do some stream and celebrate with the viewers playing some games. Then when we'll meet in Bucharest, we'll celebrate winning Dreamhack too!

VortiX: I'll wake up at 6 in the morning to go to school, even though I'm sick. Best celebration ever.

Any last words or shout outs you guys want to give? Maybe LucifroN can share Muradin tips, I’m not too skilled with him.

LucifroN: I disagree with the current Muradin build. The standard one that chooses Q talents on level 4 and 7.

You go a Thunder clap oriented build right?

LucifroN: Yep, most of the time I do. It just feels better.

The level 4 and level 13 thunder clap talents are a hard choice in my opinion.

LucifroN: : They have great synergy. The talent that causes a second Thunder Clap also benefits from the 300% damage on a single target talent. I'm not sure most people realize this.

I didn’t realize that.

GranPkt: Me neither.

All right, scratch the interview. Let's have a two hour Muradin podcast with LucifroN

*GranPkt and Blackscorp laughs*

Weekly Muradin podcast: Same hero, different week. "The Dwarf toss with LucifroN"

*LucifroN laughs*

Kidding aside, thanks of the interview guys!

Blackscorp: Thank you as well! We did really enjoy playing in Enter the Storm. The way it was organized and the admins really helped with all of the DC's and server issues.

VortiX:  We'd like to thank the people supporting us, GosuGamers for organizing this tournament, and Team Liquid, as well as our sponsors hyperX HTC, Razer, Alienware, G2A, Namecheap, QuestNutrition, Nissan and Need for Seat for making this possible!

LucifroN: Thanks for the interview!
