It’s the first major with the new world champion in attendance.

14 out of the 16 total players invited to the second GameGune LAN tournament for Hearthstone are major championship winners, promising to make this weekend an exciting one for Hearthstone fans.

This is an important step up for the Spain-based brand. The inaugural edition of GameGune, held in November 2015, featured a sizeable €25,000 prize pool and a number of respectable names, including James “Firebat” Kostesich, Jon “Orange” Westberg, Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk, Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh, Petar “Gaara” Stevanovic and more, but low-quality production tainted what could’ve been a memorable competition. With a single Spanish stream covering the games, not many fans watched as local hero Jacobo “Jac0b0” Sanchez defeated the 2014 world champion in close five games.

This time around, the minds behind GameGune 2016 are determined to fix the mistakes of the past. The coming edition of the tournament, scheduled for November 18-19, is to be broadcast in multiple languages with Alexander “Raven” Baguley and Daniel “FalconePunch” Falcone taking the English stream.

The confirmed line-up is even more grandiose. A lot of the high profile names which took part in the first edition will make a return and will be joined by some of the strongest players of this year, including ONOG champion Frank “Fr0zen” Zhang, SeatStory winner Jan “SuperJJ” Janssen and, most notably, reigning world champion Pavel “Pavel” Beltukov.

A round robin feeding into single elimination playoffs will determine who will bank the first place check of €12,000.
