15 regionals will select 20 players for the European LAN finals in Kyiv later this month.
After Africa and the Middle East selected the trio to represent the region in the Global Grand Finals in Shanghai, it’s up to the Old Continent to go through its qualifier process too. For two weeks, registrations have been ongoing for any of the 15 regional preliminaries. Major esports nations such as Sweden, Germany, Russia and Ukraine will have the privilege of having two representatives in the Kyiv event, while in the other countries/sub-regions it’s a winner-takes-all.
The Europeans will represent the largest slice of players at the Shanghai finals. Out of the 24 slots, a third will go to Europe, followed by Americas’ and APAC’s six each, Africa and Middle Easts’s three and the singular from the host country of China. A total of $300,000 prize pool is on the line for the global finals, the winner taking a cut of $150,000 – more than the cut of the 2014 and 2015 Blizzcon world champions.
Each qualifier will be held in a double elimination format and the brackets can be found on our coverage page right here.
