Ben Brode has revealed two new One Night in Karazhan cards, one of which is the iconic guardian.
Most of what’s been shown from Karazhan so far hasn’t really been a shocker. Aside from [card]barnes[/card]’ powerful effect, the minions and spells we’ve seen so far have been more or less unimpressive, effect-wise.
That’s not at all the case with Medivh, the Guardian. An 8-mana 7/7 legendary, Medivh equips the Atiesh staff on Battlecry. Atiesh itself is what makes the guardian intriguing: When a spell is cast, the weapon summons a minion of the same mana cost and loses one durability. It can do it three times before it expires.
This is certainly a powerful effect, which many classes will want to try. Tempo Mage is the natural candidate, but we could also see it ramped out early in Druid or spell-heavy decks like Concede Shaman.
Another intriguing card was also shown by Ben Brode today. The 3 mana 3/3 Warlock minion Silverware Golem is the next piece of the discard puzzle that Karazhan is trying to push, as it’s summoned on the field when it’s discarded. [card]Soulfire[/card] or [card]Doomguard[/card] into a free 3/3? Yes, please, why not.
