After narrowly missing the championship in week #1, South Korea finally triumphed on GosuCup soil carried by Tae-Hyeong “Taeng2” Bae.

The Southeast Asian region might have just met its biggest challenge yet, as South Korean players have started invading the weekly GosuCup tournaments. In the debut tournament for the new season, Yong-Lee “Lojom” Beom came within one win away of a championship before Tirth “Gcttirth” Mehta robbed him of that opportunity. This week, though, the Koreans were determined to show SEA what they’ve got.

Taeng2’s road to the gold medal included not just the defeat of the reigning GosuCup champion Gcttirth but also veteran Vietnamese player Cao “CrazyMageeee” Tu. Taeng2’s line-up of Warrior, Shaman and Druid took a two-game lead right from the start and finalized it at 3-1, awarding its pilot three valuable HCT points.

The back-to-back grand finals put South Korea on top of the GosuCup nation leaderboards with nine points, slightly ahead of Vietnam’s eight and India’s seven.

GosuCup SEA #2 standings

1. Taeng2 – 3 HCT points*
2. CrazyMageeee – 2 HCT points + $150
3. Staz – 1 HCT point + $50
4. Gcttirth – 1 HCT point
